Post your Becker knives pics here

danny.k danny.k Attempted some batoning with my Patrol on cured apple wood. That flat grind is a NoGo. I spent more time getting it unstuck than splitting. Got a nice bowed blade picture. Zero issues it bounced right back. Smaller diameter wood is going to be a breeze for the Patrol.

Oh no!
Why on earth did you try on applewood?
Well, you didnt break that purdy BK6..

Thanks for showing the 20 some love and by all means go ahead and put an edge on that with my complete understanding that it will be more than KaBar had intended for that Blade, had a chance to do a little work with the 12 yesterday and only thing I did like was your edge on the Blade as the 12 just does not do it for me Thanks for letting me Borrow your 12 as it affirmed the reason I never got 1, am sure many of you guys and gals like just not for me, but the edge was a pleasure so go ahead and make my day Tanker throw an edge on that 20 give it some love and then let me know how soon your 20 coming out the box to Play.

I'm in agreement with you about the 12 it's just Meh!!! For me. Doesn't fit a role that I need. Your 20 is a dream and I rocked a 20° convexed edge on it. Your gonna likey:thumbsup: I already dirtied up my 29 so I can't justify breaking out my shinny 20 just yet:D If I ever break my 29 I have the 20 to fall back on lol

What should i do?
Previous owner sharpened the swedge horribly using a dremel-tool..
Rounding it of carefully (for ease when batoning) or sharpen it up properly for that occational pig-stab (could be a safety issue for other uses..) ?

I agree, take your time and repair it. But I would leave it sharp since it's already that way. I like the sharpened swedge when I'm stab-splitting wood.

Yea, ill probably sharpen it up... Its so crappy done right now. Its been "dremeled" horribly on one side and retarded on the other. Uneven as shiat and iffy angles at best..
Either way the swedge will lose some height in the process.

Yeah, that’s not pretty. It’s repairable though, it’ll just take some time to even up the edges. If it were me, I’d much rather fix the edge than try and round it over; by the time you hawg off enough metal the tip will look weird. Good luck with whatever you decide

danny.k danny.k Thats ugly for sure. I've been scratching my head trying to visualize the angles on your brute. You could A. Have to lower the tip to grind it flat to the lowest point on the dremel job. That would look off but work. B. Drop the whole spine to keep it all in proportion. C. Sharpen the main edge to 15º convex edge to swallow up some of the swedge tip and then convex the swedge even. D. Stone the swedge even and smooth and make it look like it was supposed to be there which is what i would do. I wish I had it at my job. My coarse buffing wheel would straighten that grind right up. Good Luck Brother
