I don't know exactly what year the Brute was discontinued; but it has never carried the Kabar name. (Blackjack and Camillus era)
They come available, periodically...though it generally takes some patience to get one at a good price.

Went out Mushroom hunting and brought along my favorite, a BK7, I've had for years, and my recently handled BK14. Found no mushrooms.
