Post your Becker knives pics here

Only a year???!!! You must have friends in high places. Here in NJ takes much longer, and even with an attorney unless you are retired LEO or Judge it most likely won’t happen. Tough enough in some towns just to get a permit to purchase a handgun!
And I got moved to the head of the line and it took a year. My FFL only took about 4 months. NY is Crazy!!!!!

I don’t know what it’s like your part of NY, but any police station that approves a permit keeps that info at the top of the dispatch notes, so, if police come to your house for any reason(except maybe to ask for donations for their union) you will most likely be on the floor with a broken door. No requirement to register handguns or rifles legally purchase out of state, though. I wouldn’t voluntarily register them for anything!

I have no broken door or face plant worries;)

I thought NJ was kinda like the populated areas of CA. "May Issue" - but good luck with that.
I haven't even bothered to try. Compared to a lot of people, I'd have a tough time proving any kind of "need."
A friend - who applied, and got denied, told me of a friend of his (in the SF Bay area.) Former military - honorary discharge. Former CIA agent. Private Investigator. Clean record. Sheriff denied.

I hear in NY it depends on where you live, and in and around the city - how rich and/or famous you are. Tanker, you should've told 'em about your celebrity status. ;)

A PI can’t work without a ccw, in my understanding. My guess is that police at large events carry m4 rifles without drawing attention, as they do in nyc. May issue means if you are a judge or LEO, or can afford to donate $100,000 to the sheriffs favorite “charity.” The law was supposed to allow jewelers who had already been robbed several times to ccw, but it’s been my experience nobody gets one. Tanker’s 1 year wait is probably a state record(for shortest wait) for NY! But in across the border in NYS(a few miles from where I live) the Walmart sells all kinds of rounds at great prices. NJ firearms only leave the house under lock and key, under the wheel well and any rounds should be carried in the hand so they can be disposed of in the event of a traffic stop. Hollow point rounds are considered “extra deadly” and incur additional penalties, while full metal jacket rounds are considered “cop killers” so it’s a catch 22 situation, unless you have a ccw, which is damn near impossible to acquire. Air guns and black powder rifles fall under the same draconian statutes.

Does!
I was trying to figure out what that baby finger knife was.

I should be grateful, but the rain needs to stop so I can put the camp kitchen set to use again.

I remember discussing it over in the Kabar forum a long time ago but I've forgotten the model number. The fancy hammered blade is factory. And I use it to cut cheese the hammer marks help out lol

Tanker 1/66, Re: "NY is crazy!!!!!"
"Crazy" wouldn't be my first choice of adjectives, but it's not wrong.

But I'm sure they think I'm nuts. hell, if everyone else would join in, I'd put together a lightweight AR and carry it slung over my shoulder everyday. I have a feeling if a lot of people did that, a lot of the crap we have going on would taper off real quicklike. But you sure don't want to be the only one doing that. If that is the case, you stand out WAY too much!

Tanker 1/66, You will like this. On a blog I read (View From the Porch) Browning is held in VERY high regard. His birthday is noted every year, and usually his name is followed with (pbuh), for "peace be upon him". Not politically correct, but there it is. The author of the blog, Tamara Keel, was commenting on the longevity and usefulness of many of JMB's designs. She wrote: "One day the US will have a hover tank with a frickin' laser for a main gun. But, there will still be an M2HB on a pintle mount beside the Commander's hatch."
