Post your Combos and Piggybacks

There are some beautiful combinations there, but I'm with Mick. I find that a piggyback rig is too heavy and cumbersome, for me.

But, as always, to each their own.

11x11x, I can understand why you keep them as safe queens. They are old classics!

My piggyback rig. BRKT, Golok, Fox River, Micro Canadian, with Sharpshooter Baldric rig. Spreads the weight and does't tie up my belt.

Made this for a friend of a friend.

I'm a bit with Doc on his point, but I can really see the value of a piggy back on a baldric. For me, an important consideration would be versatility. I get a little iffy on knife combo's that come only with a piggy back sheath. I like the ability to use the knives separately or in combination, i.e. two sheaths that link together. The Barkie combo's I believe are all that way and that seems pretty smart!

Here is a RC-3/RC-6 combo that I simply put together in the field one day with the supplied paracord and cord clips. Worked well and was more comfortable than I thought. This combo of knives seems particularly good.

Currently experimenting with a BRKT Bravo 1 and Mikro II but the Leatherman looks good there. Don't know if carries well. Will have to test out. Also the GoingGear metal match is too large.

IMO one of the best "pic" threads on the WS&S forum! Awesome rigs guys!

I dont have pics of my latest acquisition yet but it is a Brusletto Nanse (man, that knife feels good in hand). My combo consists of that, my old case trapper, and my BK11. I need a good chopper. Sorry no pix at the moment..soon tho.

That is a beautiful rig! Functional and just looks outstanding. I am in the process of trying to figure out how to Piggyback my Koster Survivor with his Bushcraft.

I am getting some ideas from this thread.

Thanks gentlemen.

Not so much a "blade" combo... but I have really grown to like this knife/canteen baldric set up. A cutting tool, water container, purification tabs and cookpot (SS cup). All on a belt with swivel rings to conform to my body whether worn as a baldric or a belt.

Is that your work? I have been thinking about some type of shoulder rig and really like that one.

Wow Rick,

Great looking setup. Did you attach the buckle on that with rivets also or did you have to sew it into the strap? Really cool the way it can be worn either way.

That's a very cool and useful looking saw. What is it?

It's a Silky Saw, Pocketboy 130 with large teeth. It is a very handy piece of equipment!

OK - I gotta ask a couple of questions...

Varg,

Do you have a pic of the Barkie Hudson Bay rig? Damn that knife is nice...

SnakeDoc - Is the Silky part of your existing combo? That rig looks real handy...

Yes, the pouch for the saw will clip onto a "D" ring on the sheath, it rides on the front of my leg.

You can see the unused "D" ring on the back of the rig here.

And you can see just a little bit of the saw pouch under my arm in this pic.

LOVE combos.

Here's my long trip combo. Chopweiler and Swamp Warden in some JRE love

I have my matched Kepharts from JK at JRE now getting a piggyback built. Can't wait!

I guess I should have been more clear. I'm not fond of piggyback rigs, but a combination on a baldric is a different matter. An old picture:

Best combination by far IMO, in other rigs I am seeing a lot of redundancy.
