Ahh, I've been wanting to do this thread ever since I signed up here but haven't gotten around to it! I'm a sucker for tanto's and I *know* you guys have better tanto's than I do. I just got back in to collecting knives again and until this past year, hadnt bought anything in quite some time. A lot has changed in the knife world!
So please, whether they're production or custom, post your favorite tanto's!
Welp, since I don't have any custom made tanto's, this is as close as I can get at the moment. Bob Lum Tanto - All class and my favorite by far.
And the tanto that gets the most use around my parts - The Kershaw (tanto) Blur - A big knife for not-so-big bucks. I've heard many a person claim they use and love this knife. I concur, this is one of my most favorite EDC knives!
I suppose that this is still a tanto, though reverse - The Random Task II (g-10) is an amazing blade and one of the more underrated Kershaw's IMO. For interested parties, I've seen these on sale from quite a few vendors lately. They're now discontinued, but can still be picked up for cheap! The Random Leek is another one of my fav's, but a bit smaller than the Random Task. The Random Leek is a stout little blade made of S30V steel. It's really quite strong for the size and sees quite a bit of carry in my pocket!
And finally, my newest tanto - the ZT0700 - I've only had it for a week, but it's already getting some decent use. So far I like it a lot. It's another discontinued blade and also on sale at quite a few vendors. It does have a couple of cons, but the pro's (at least so far) are outweighing any negative aspect. Probably the biggest con is tip-up only carry. I prefer tip-down carry.
Yes, as I'm sure you can tell I like KAI knives. That having been said, I'm definitely open to buying other brands of knives (even though sometimes I wouldn't think so
. I'd love to see which tanto's you love and recommend. I can also recommend the Kershaw budget line of knives - The Brawler, Kuro, and a few others make excellent edc tanto's. I absolutely love the classiness of the Japanese style of tanto, but the Americanized tanto style has grown on me. Please post your fav's!
