I switched out the grooved "target" trigger from my G19 for a smooth one from a G17, and did some spring work to get it down to around 2-2.5 pounds. Shoots like a dream now and super quick follow-up shots. Just have to get used to that grip angle. I finally had to replace the recoil spring and do a full detail clean after god knows how many rounds... it is a Gen-2 and I am not the original owner. The firing pin channel was full of gunk, but that's about it. The thing is a serious workhorse.

1911 I built working at Auto-Ordnance fifteen years ago-caspian frame & slide, hand me down stainless (kart or bar-sto?) match barrel, stippled frame, and almost no finish from carry. Second round of ceramacoat there lol. It's had about 12k o handloads through it, but still going. Rifle is an 03a3 converted to 7.62x51 and set up as a scout rifle-6-1/3 lbs loaded, and a joy to hunt with.

Yeah I know Glock pistols aren't "the best" I only mentioned police because in Canada every officer that I've seen has a Glock on his/her hip. I'm a "good enough" kinda guy, when I have no actual experience personally I tend to go by what's "good enough" for other groups (in the case of handguns I go with people who carry it day to day) I think the Canadian military uses the FN Browning hi power.
 
Phil-yes they are. You have to make you fit them, rather than vice versa, but they run.
The firing pinchannel is the thing one of my South African buddies pointed out as the thing to check for crud on glocks-hated to pop that plastic slide plate out, but it is a crud magnet.
My 23 is a gen 2-i like 'em better with no fingergrooves. Mine is covered in skateboard tape.
 
Wow Shavru, I love grandpa's old Colt. Even see at least one of the original two tone mags. Those are valuable and getting durn hard to find. A hard nose too, you can see the line in the slide.

I love the Ruger 1911 too. I have the full size and it's a keeper, yours looks like the newer commander size but I could be off on that.

As I understand VZ-58 derivatives are quite popular in Canada, though you have to get them with a comically long barrel and can't have the high-cap mags.

When all said and done, its all about what you prefer, if it works for ya, use it, if it dont, find what does and then get everything you want and enjoy the heck out of them. And Shavru, love the pics especially the Browning HP and the 1911, and the Walther .............. lol
 
I forget what magazine limit is on semi auto rifles but I know that the barrel must be at least 18" (or 18.5"...) I personally like long barrel rifles, mid sized shotguns and short concealable pistols.

Also my replies may be few and far between, I was taken to the hospital... I have a 6mm kidney stone on the right side.
 
Thanks guys much of the credit (and the bills) go to hubby. I just find the ones I like for my EDC. With the exception of those, he decides which ones we hang onto.

btw Pugs the FM right before the HP is an Argentinian made Browning made by the same machinery and staff that FN used when they manufactured there under license. It is one of the few detective models (4.25 inch barrel) HPs ever made. And Bawanna, you are absolutely correct the Ruger is a commander size. I prefer that for shooting because of the balance. after all the .45 has such a smooth push not a snap like a .40 so doesn't really need to be so front heavy to counter that and I can hold it on target far longer.

OUCHY Canadian. Sorry to hear about that. Those kidney stone things are serious pain. A doc once told me that 3 things peg our pain meters so we can't really tell is any of them are worse than another. Heart attack, Child birth and kidney stones. I have had Kidney stones. Am doing my best to avoid the other 2 because I don't want first hand knowledge of if he was right or not. Hope they get you comfortable and pain free soon.
 
Ouch! They gonna have to blow that one up. And hurt! I had my first a year or so ago, it was only two and I felt like I had ndogs Giant Chitlangi Bowie stuck in my back. Might hurtful.

Doctor says drink 1 1/2 to 3 liters of water everyday for the rest of my life. I don't drink that much water a week, let a lone a day. I try to drink more though, don't want that again. I find a wee bit of scotch kills the plain water taste. Strictly for medicinal purposes of course.

Get shed of that stone soon and get better.
 
As a person who has had a kidney stone it is unfortunately far more likely to get another one. I have found that something that sounds rediculous actually helps. I have no idea the reason why it does and it is FAR to late for theCanadian at this point but..

When you first start feeling the beginning pains that you relate to a kidney stone, get about 8oz of boiled asperagus (I used a small version 10oz or so, of canned asperagus worked just fine) and 1 6pack of diet coke. Throw the asperagus in a blender and blend it as smooth as you can. eat the paste. btw, you can heat it in the microwave so it tasted just fine but the texture is still mush. Then drink all 6 of the diet cokes in 30 minutes. If you are like me you will feel miserably full but for some reason it made my kidney stone pains go away and not return. I have no idea why it works but I have had other people I tell about it try it and tell me it worked for them too. So I hope that you never have another kidney stone again, but if you do perhaps this info will help out.
 
Yeah the pain dropped me to the floor in agony when I was trying to get my boots on and I stayed there screaming for a few minutes. It happened again at the hospital and the triage nurse told me to get up of the floor... my reply was "yes, because I want to be on this dirty hospital floor" then she snooped around my wallet for my health card (I did my best to hand her my wallet)

Canadian, I love your C41 one of my favorites. It is .177 isn't it? That and a crossman 357 Four which is the 4inch version of the revolver. Many many fine days plinking cans and learning proper trigger control/aiming in the old days and I still love to take it out and blow through a few hundred pellets. My 357 now needs some new seals and Benjamin/Crossman doesn't seem to offer them anymore. I am trying to find the right sizes to replace them with some O rings from the hardware store, but so far just wasting CO2 cylinders as each time I think I have it and try it just leaks it all away :confused:
 
I used to have a Benjamin pump pellet gun! 10 pumps and I could bury a pellet in an oak tree about like a .22! Loved that gun!
 
What are you doing over here playing with your BB gun. You got that Katana unwrapped yet or WHAT?
