Random thought . . .

Having recently spent about $1.7k for 4 knives, I passed on this original LNIB Spyderco Schempp Tuff (C151GTIP) that was offered to me for "just" $345 and I feel better for it. :)

I've got a quite a few Schempp designed Spydercos in my collection but I never liked the looks of the Tuff and could never bring myself to buy one. I feel the same way about a variety of other Spydercos but I still currently own 176 of them nonetheless.

Even this Spyderco knife "collector" has to have some limits. LOL! 🤷‍♂️

Ref: A Gentleman's Folder

Posted these pics of Spydercos from my collection in the thread above re: what I consider to be examples of "gentleman's folders" and, I thought people here in the Spyderco sub-forum would be interested in seeing them as well, in case they didn't see them there:

Note: This is a cross-posting from the Latest Acquisitions Thread in the General Knife Discussion sub-forum:

Just received this Gen 2 VG10 SE Spyderco Police "no bug" on the blade variation:

Didn't really need it but I got it for cheap & it matches a Gen 2 VG10 PE Spyderco Police "no bug" on the blade variation that I already owned & they make a nice looking pair:

The only problem (for me) is that I now need to find a Gen 2 VG10 PS to make a complete 3 knife set of this variation, like the Gen 2 VG10 PE/PS/SE "bug on the blade" variation that I already owned. LOL! ;)

Anyway . . . so, here's what my Spyderco Police collection looks like now:

From top to bottom:

1) Gen 2 VG10 PE - No Bug
2) Gen 2 VG10 SE - No Bug
3) Gen 2 VG10 PE - With Bug
4) Gen 2 VG10 PS - With Bug
5) Gen 2 VG10 SE - With Bug
6) Gen 3 VG10 PE G10
7) Gen 4 K390 PE G10

BTW: There may be others but, in terms of branding on the blade, there are at least 4 variations in the Gen 2 Police that I know of: 1) Blank with no branding at all; 2) the "Police Model"; 3) "Police" only and 4) "Police" w/Bug Logo.

There are also variations of the Gen 2 with and w/o the Boye dent on the back lock but I've only collected Gen 2's w/the dent because I'm still hoping to collect a set of the Gen 1 variation that only comes w/o the dent.

But note that there's no dent on the Gen 4. 🤷‍♂️

If you're curious why Spyderco decided to adopt the dent in the 1st place, read this: What is a Boye Dent?

Whos makes these scales? I like the grooved texture and I just got a Magnacut PM2 that I want to dress up. I've been looking at AWT scales, but I can't tell from the website how deep the cerakote grooved texture is on their scales.
Those are skinny PM2 scales made by AWT, and they are exclusive to the retailer, KnivesPlus.
I contacted KnivesPlus and asked if they would put a skinny PM2 together for me using the MagnaCut Salt PM2,
which they had in stock, and they happily obliged. They do not sell the skinny scales separately.
AWT's milled pattern is very shallow on the current Spyderco Agent series scales they offer.
However, they recently did a limited run (already sold out) with what they call an "aggressive" pattern,
and hopefully they offer that in the future. Here's a pic...
