Keith did you get your ears lowered?:eek: I've been thinking of cutting my braids but it's damned hard to do. It would sure make it easier for my Barbie and myself to take care of though and I probably will one day but Barbie tells me it isn't necessary.:D

Yep. Folks at the Midwest khuk khon are gonna mistake me fer a slightly slimmer Pendentive!

Why, might you ask? Well, the wife decided to cut her hair, and I mean short! I doubt more than the bangs were over 1/2 inch! Well, I didn't wanna be the one getting the ass-grabs in public (folks thinkin' I was the woman from B-hind, heehe) so I done shorn it all off. It is easier to take care of, and the drains are not clogging as fast.

First time I got in the shower with the short hair, I fergot to reduce the amt of shampoo I was used to!

Anyway, I can grow it all back in 2-3 years, (closer to 2, if I can get hold of those wonderful pre-natal vitamins the wife had).

[As fer all you "Hey, glad you could join the human race" arses, byte me! The scarier thing is now this Heathen looks just like yall. I'm incognito! Me and me iron, that is!(thanx fer the reminder Bruise)]

Yvsa, my tattoist has long blond hair down to his waist. He's decided if he ever cuts it, he'll go Yul Brenner-style with the scalplock/topknot. So you might consider some hairstyles b4 you take the plunge, you might find something in the mid-length you like.

If it weren't winter, I might've taken it down to the Q-ball. Short hair makes me look intense, compared to the longer hair.

I'll post an "After" pic if I can get the bro's digi-cam.

The scalp-lock/topknot, actually worn more in the back and off center was the favored Cherokee style.
The old tyme Cherokee were very clean people and removed any excess hair by pulling it out, this included the pubic hair as well. The men were clean -shaven- and used mussel shells for tweezers to pull out the sparse whiskers.
I have to shave at least every third day to look my best as I don't have much of a beard and for that I am so very grateful!!!!:D

But on the other hand I do want to check out the organization, 'Locks of Love', I think it's called to see if my hair could be used to make a hairpiece for someone that has gone bald from having chemotherapy or radiation.
It would go along with the ndn way of not wasteing anything.:D
My hair has its share of grey now but older people generally are the ones most apt to undergo such treatment.
 
Funny, there was a germanic tribe called "Cherusci" that wore a similar "off to the side in the back" hairstyle, often bound as a single braid behind one ear.

Tis tribe's claim to historical fame is this - The Cherusci were having a big religious powwow in Teutoberger Wald in A.D. 9 when they were surprised by two legoins of marauding romans. They were all killed and hung in trees as a sacrifice to Odin. The Romans never crossed the rhine much after that...The famous "Hermann ze German" is none other than Hermann of the Cherusci, a Germanic trained in the Roman army. He always refused field battles with the Romans, favoring broken ground (woods, marshes, etc.) where the Roman formations would break.

It is weird when you see a picture of people you've talked to on the phone, or corresponded with on the 'net. Very seldom they look like you pictured them.

Locks of love is a wonderful organization. Karen and I have both sent our locks there. I have another braid to send, but keep procrastinating....hairs not growing as fast in my "old" age. You can get more info at www.locksoflove.com if you want. :)
 
I think I may have donated to Locks of Love or some Army barber stole my hair for a wig. :) When I went to Basic Training I hadn't cut my hair for about six months, so when they shaved my head the barber kept it and put it in a plastic bag. I have pretty nice hair (so I'm told) being blonde and all, so I figured they were going to make it into a wig. Hopefully it went to some better purpose than a few bucks in the barber's pocket.
 
I don't know. In a world of terrible possibilities, a few bucks in a Barber's pocket seems pretty good to me.

Sadly I think you're right munk. I wouldn't have minded if they'd only asked; as it was I just thought "WTF are they keeping my hair in a bag and no one else's?". At the time I wasn't inclined to question much, considering the large scary guy wearing a Smoky-the-Bear hat standing behind me. :) I didn't (still don't) like drill sergeants very much, with very few exceptions.
 
Could be Ferrous, I did gain 20 lbs in the ensuing two months. That may have been from all the pushups and marching everywhere though.
