I tried a few searches and couldn't find anything on this topic, sorry if I missed any threads.
So I recently traded with someone and my package has gone missing on the tracking information. It hasn't been the 21 days yet, but I'm starting to get ready to prepare a claim.
I bought both of the knives I traded off of ebay. I've found the paypal receipts. I got really good deals on both of these knives, much less than market value. I insured the package for what the knives would cost if I had to replace them now, which is much greater than what I paid for them.
My question is how does USPS determine value? Will they only reimburse me what I paid for them or what they are actually "worth" (cost to replace). The paypal receipts prove I bought them, but could I use a catalog to establish their "value at time of mailing".
Really hoping I don't get screwed here because I got a deal on the knives in the first place. Any input from people with experience in this would be greatly appreciated. I have a feeling this process won't be easy or fun.
