Postal Packages

I have had packages shipped to the wrong places by USPS, but overall the service has been acceptable in the Pandemic. On the other hand, Fed Ex in Baton Rouge is lacking. A package I needed for a trip took 12 days to deliver from Nevada, and sat in the BR delivery center for 3 days before they delivered it several hours after I left for the airport. UPS has also been acceptable.

Here we go again. Just in time for the holidays ! 📦✉️📪
Heard about this on the radio couple of days ago, USPS is also going to use more trucks to transport packages across the country instead of planes… and there’s supposed to be a price increase for the slower services

I don't know about the US but in Canada now they stagger package delivery in the mail. Here I think it's Tuesday and Thursday and during the holiday season last year it was Saturday also.

At least the post master is admitting to the slow down outright this year, unlike last year when they broke the system but claimed nothing was wrong (even though he said he was going to do it on the DL but shut up about the slow down when the SHF).

Thing is, if Dejoy says stuff is going to get bad and slow down, it is likely going to be worse than even he is saying. I mean, he hardly admitted to anything last time and look how embarrassingly bad it was in many places.

I'd start sending those holiday packages now folks.

Expected 4 packages from USPS today. One just left Madison, WI after being dropped off at a post office Tuesday. Two was sent to the next largest city near me. Three remains at the regional postal center where it's been since Wednesday. Four made it here. So much for an epic mail call.

That Is literally what USPS tracking is saying on 3 packages due to be delivered today. I would give them the benefit of the doubt if the mail carrier hadn't handed me my mail personally and denied having the packages......

Today (15th), USPS predicted my package would be de;livered on the 14th (yesterday). Then, USPS tracking said delivered at 11:57am today Then USPS tracking said delivered at 12:57 pm today, Actually delivered sometime between 4:00pm and 9pm. today. USPS Tracking deserves the Nebula Award for Science Fiction.

Deliveries have actually been good on my end. Maybe there are less packages being sent out. Most people are strapped with money because of the cost of everything going up so their not buying. From what I’m hearing gas is going to get out of control !

As to gasoline, the Government goal is $4.00 nationwide average by year's end and up from there next year - for our own good, Similar is planned for natural gas. All this shouid impact prices for everything- as should the $1.5 trillion in printing press money. On the other hand , the official word is "what inflation"? Take your pick.

Any source for this? I'm sure it would make for lively discussion over in the appropriate (Political) Arena.

That is an excuse code phrase for "we messed up somehow and will likely get your packages delivered tomorrow". Total BS of course but when that has happened to me they show up the next day.

Our deliveries have been good so far. It is as if the USPS is trying to stay on top of things this year. I'm still betting on another catastrophe closer to the holidays. On a side note, it seems like ebay sellers are shipping sooner than they normally would. Like they normally would let a day or two go by before getting the package to the PO, knowing that they would still make their shipping window. Now, sellers seem to know that those extra days of cushion time are gone and are getting to the PO right after the label is created.

Got one the other day that went between Billings MT and Great Falls MT like 6 times in one day…and it’s a 4 hour drive. Also had an envelope worth $15,000 last week that never showed up on tracking but was delivered today….. It’s getting much worse than I have previously dealt with.

Where do you guys live? It’s so freaking strange, because USPS has been absolutely kicking ass in Washington state lately. I’ve had packages come from all over the country and they are always delivered on time and I’ve even had a few priority packages show up in two days! So strange, sounds like usps needs to take some pointers from other places.

I’m putting a hold on ordering anything till after the first of the year. There are a couple due to be delivered by the end of the week and that will be it.

"On October 1, the Postal Service will implement new service standards for First-Class Mail and Periodicals. These new service standards will increase delivery reliability, consistency, and efficiency for our customers and across our network.

Most First-Class Mail (61 percent) and Periodicals (93 percent) will be unaffected by the new service standard changes. Standards for single-piece First-Class Mail traveling within a local area will continue to be two days.

The Postal Service will increase time‐in‐transit standards by 1 or 2 days for certain mail that are traveling longer distances. By doing so, the Postal Service can entrust its ground network to deliver more First-Class Mail, which will lead to greater consistency, reliability, and efficiency that benefits its customers.

The service standard changes are part of our balanced and comprehensive Delivering for America Strategic Plan and will improve service reliability and predictability for customers and enhance the efficiency of the Postal Service network. The service standard changes that we have determined to implement are a necessary step towards achieving our goal of consistently meeting 95 percent service performance."

By increasing time-to-deliver, performace will be "improved." I am considering getting into high-jumping. By "improving" qualifying height to 3 feet, I can "improve" performance.
