Suddenly, I'm not able to post images. When I click on the "insert image" icon the window that used to drop down doesn't now. The posting rules below reads:

You may post new threads
You may post replies
You may not post attachments
You may edit your posts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BB code is On
Smilies are On
code is On
HTML code is Off

I have images to post and no way to do it. :confused:Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck Ward

Chuck,
Has your membership changed.?

How many do you have..?

Yup, your Gold or Platinum membership expired. Ante up.... :)

Looking forward to them.

Russ, I haven't changed my membership.....Still just a registered user....Maybe that's the problem, may need to pay...:o.

I have some images from the "Branson Show and Hammer In" right now, but always have something that might be of interest.

Chuck,

I suggest you pay and support Bladeforums. But not because of the ability to post images. The BF system is limiting, and as a professional, you would do best to not have YOUR work compromised by forum software and sizing limitations.

Buy into Fototime.com for $24 a year. Post from their host. You're worth it.

I certainly don't mind paying to support Bladeforums, in fact, I just returned from the bank with a loan so I can, but it's confusing that I COULD post until just now. Oh well......Hopefully, when I DO upgrade my membership I'll be able to post images

Haven't had any experience with Fototime and I'm quite happy with Flickr. Is there a good reason to change?

Hi Chuck,

You must have had a Gold membership that expired. It's the only way you could post before. Your will always have a membership, because it's free. The paid memberships expire in one year's use.

If you have Flickr, and can post from that, and you are comfortable with it, don't do a thing. But: Is it free? (I'd be suspicious, if so.)

I can post through BF's software, but I almost never do.

Probably a good time to get an answer to something I have been wondering about for some time.
Why do some (many makers) post the small thumbnails of their work on this forum? Most of these images are not very flattering to their knives. Is this the result of using BF photo software as opposed to one of the many photo sites? Just wondering.

Yeah, that's the BF software. It's easy and it collects the image right from your harddrive. There is a sizing max, and that's the rub. The image (I believe) is compressed further through the vBulletin Forum software.

You can understand why I grouse about my own images resized and posted. I work hard for clarity and I don't want mine, or my client's work compromised because of forum limitations.

This post should be in Service and Support, BTW.

Coop, I may have had a gold membership but I don't remember it. I see other folks post images without paid memberships but I'll upgrade and see.

I think Flickr has a free program, but I pay a fee......I think about the same as Fototime. It's ( Flickr) really easy for me to use so I think I'll keep it

Chuck

....can't speak for others, but when I've posted images, they've
automaticaly posted as thumbnails....I've not seen any other options.

Is there a option that I'm not seeing..?

Well, back to square one.....I upgraded my membership to gold and still no luck posting. An email to an administrator a couple of days ago has failed to get an answer, so I guess I'm destined to continue to be a lurker.

Chuck

Thanks Coop for clearing up the thumbnails mystery for me.

Fototime's basic membership is free too I believe. To get expanded storage, the ability to customize your photo site and some other bells and whistles cost $24 per year.

I review Chuck's Flicker site every few days and it's seems to be a good program as well.

Thanks Pagey, thats a real good explanation of how to post images. My problem is that when I click on the insert image icon the box where you paste the url doesn't drop down. I might be able to paste the url here and if clicked the image might open but thats not the way it's intended. Let me try it With a Dog Bone Bowie that Jimmy Chin had at Branson.

Chuck,

All I ever do is copy the IMG Code from my hosting site and paste it into the message. It worked fine before and after I had a paid membership.

That's the way I do it as well. I don't even use the insert image button.

That's all I did.

Chuck, just stick that link (the http://blahblah text) in between the required 'image tags' "
" anywhere in your message body and you'll be good to go.

Do you have to type
everytime? I'll give it a try and try to post an image of a Jerry Rados folder that won "Best of Show" at Branson.
