Posting Photos - Who can and can't ?

I think there is a difference between a hobbyist who occasionally posts a few pictures, and someone who routinely sells knives as a source of regular income.

We have all seen members who don't have a membership, and simply post a lot of pictures to solicit orders. Sounds like BF is trying to cut down on that.

From way back in the thread, but emphasis mine. We're pretty laid back here. We're not going to start being draconian and clamping down on WIP and tutorial threads and the like. This is to take action against those who are deliberately advertising without supporting the site. That said, if you are posting WIP and tutorial threads on the reg and get new customers, think about asking them where they saw your work. The answer might surprise you.

We've never been about twisting people's arms for memberships. We prefer that members would willingly support keeping the site open on their own and recognize the value they receive from the community here.

You're cooler than me Tai.

I received this in a PM from a mod.
Bold added by me.
"Think it over and let me know if you are going to upgrade. If not, don't post any photos of handmade knives. Other photos of parts ,gizmos, etc. are OK ,as long as they aren't things you sell."

I can't post a WIP or almost anything without a photo of a handmade knife, or something I make, and might sell.

Wow... I thought maybe Brian just took it wrong and was getting frustrated over a misunderstanding. But that post above is pretty hard to misunderstand.

Personally I think that kind of message is going to lead to a fast degradation of this forum. Brian is a prime example of a guy that has the skillz and brainz to help a lot of folks out, without seeking help himself. To push guys like that away is not good for anyone.
