Potential scammer - JCRiley

I think there needs to be a new forum here...

"I CHEATED PAYPAL AND NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM"

That's funny!!!

Let's see; buy a $300 knife and risk it all to save $10

Great savings, gee I would risk losing my money to save $10.............................................................................................................Nah

"I CHEATED PAYPAL AND NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM"

I dont know if it really cheats paypal anymore. These days when I use the gift option they ask if I am going to pay the fees or if the fees are going to be paid by the receiving party. The ONLY time I havent had to pay fees is if the money is actually in my account. Either way if a seller insisted on gift I would try and send it regular and just add the fee amount to what Im gonna pay.

There was one time, ONE, when I had to call a maker on his inability to ship something I had paid for. The knife was premade and sold here on this forum, but somehow this guy didn't seem to think it was worth shipping to me. All I said was "I will be filing a claim with Paypal" and BAM, instant tracking number.

Frankly in my situation I don't think I was getting scammed, I think the guy is just a jerk. BUT, it doesn't matter either way, because I had my coverage. That 3% fee is an insurance policy against more than just fraud. Pay it gladly, because you never know when you'll need it.

Yeah, if you really want to save a few bucks and don't care about buyer protection, you can transfer money via facebook messenger now. No fees, no recourse, no worries.

Somewhat off topic, but I have to say, PayPal failed me several times already. One time, I got an item, had to return it as it was not described, then the seller never sent the correct item. After numerous emails and even phone call to PayPal, they told me the back and forth with the seller exceeded the allowable dispute period (I can't remember how many days) and PayPal's customer service apologized profusely saying it's the company policy and the system won't even let refund me. And then there are those mis-represented sales or trades where the seller did not disclose the issues and either I got stuck with a bad knife or I had to beg for a refund, this happened more than once. Yes, I understand this is the risk of trading online instead of buying from local store or reputable online vendors. But, I appreciate those who helped with this particular incident. Happy 4th!

This. I've purchased one knife on this forum where gift was "preferred". Understandable, considering it was a $15.00 sale. So, I calculated fees and sent with goods. This gift business is just silly to me. Buying locally incurs more of a fee in the form of sales tax. 3 or 4% is a bargain at any rate, especially since it's paying for peace of mind.

Not sure why this was closed, but apparently some members here that the mods are doing nothing other than allowing scammers run rampant here. Same members feel that we are mind readers and have no need to post in these threads and because we should know who got scammed by someone without them having to tell us. Not sure how this works but, okay.
SO, JCRiley has been sent a warning message regarding this topic of this thread, he needs to step up and make things right with everyone he has an outstanding deal with, not just the OP. For the record, if you are personally affected by a deal gone wrong, start a thread here, provide facts, or post if you see the same person already popping up in a thread here. We are NOT mind readers, but we do what we can to help. For those appreciative of the time and energy we put in here we thank you, for those entitled few that think they can snap their fingers and have us running like lap dogs, please stay away for everyone's sake. If you want and need help, asking politely goes a long way. But if you act like a rude douche, well good luck to you. Most of the members here are very polite and ask politely, there is just a few outliers that need to learn some manners. Carry on and keep us updated.

Thanks RevDevil. The thread was starting to get out of hand and getting off topic about PayPal and implying that we deserve getting scammed.
SO, back to the topic. I just received my knife today after some help from fellow members, I heard from 2 others who also received their purchases. There is still one member who needs to be refunded for duplicate purchase (I hope it's just one).

For me, the knife wasn't quite as described (not mint), but I'll just clean it up the best I can.

Glad it worked out and hopefully a valuable lesson was learned. If buying something ALWAYS use the buying option with paypal.

If you use the "Gift" or the "3%" then you are cheating PalPal and in my opinion you are just as much a thief as the Seller is as you are trying to save a Penny on the sale.! What is really the difference ~~ The Seller is trying to cheat you and ask that you cheat P/P in the process.! If you do as the Seller say's then you are just as bad as he is because you are beating PP out of there money that is due to them.!** I think ""Gift & 3%"" should be illegal to use here on this Forum and that would save a lot of problems for everybody.!!**

there is a guy named tim riley doing the same thing to members on the jd forums.wonder if there is any relationship between them.

Paypal is the topic.....
The reason we are talking about it is because that's what everyone reading this needs to learn from this thread.

If you would have used PP the right way, this wouldn't be such a big issue. There would be no 'scammer' because your money would not be able to be 'scammed'

That is the point.
