Jeez. And I haven't even put out the bird feeder yet. That's when he usually pounces.

did the hawk just fly in and tackle it down? id love to see that

man you should set up a montion sensor camera to get some footage of that!

youtube has a great video of an eagle attacking a mountain goat!

Lmao, your serious!!

I dont do pain meds. not even tylenol. The only medicine i need is natural and comes from the earth.

Had to get stitches in my chin and neck area a while back, they wanted to give me morphine i was like hell no, i asked for a hunk of leather to bite down on, they gave me a mouth gaurd. The pain was moderate but only lasted an hour or so, the morphine would of had me feeling like crap all day. when my tooth broke off in my gums it was the worse pain i ever felt, and trust me i have been thru hell with cuts broken bones and ribs brain trama you name it, i was prescribed a weeks worth 4 times a day of tylenol with codeine, i took 1 the first day and 1 the 2nd day then flushed them down the toilet. Most people say oh you would want it and happily take it if you were in serious pain, until they see my medical chart.
I've had more broken bones than I care to count. Played football for years and years. I've also got chronic knee problems, back problems, shoulder issues. By far the WORST pain I've felt though, passing kidney stones.

Oh look, Heath Ledger is here.
R.I.P. Teh Joker!!!!

hey squab is tasty
It really is! With a mint chimmichurri! OH LAWD!

Derek, I found a pic of my mini-forge we were discussing. Nothing to it and it's portable. That's the JTH-7 torch. High tech holder for it I've got going on too.

You can see the angle the torch is and the flame swirl here. Opening is two and a quarter inches.

Trade, is that what you were talking about when you said you forgot murphs M-18 in the oven? :)

Isnt that a pigeon?

Sh-h-h-h. Don't tell him! He thinks he's gonna eat fancy today.

We have (had?) a flock of mourning doves that would hang out on the electric wires so I assumed it was one of those. But you're right -- it's a flying rat.

This is about all I see from my office...other than squirrels and crows.

America eats deer...really wish I had a telephoto lens on me when I saw this. Mr. bald eagle was very well aware of my presence and I couldn't get any closer.

Well I have a few modes, not sure which one I will click too. Sleep mode, normal mode, survival mode and lazy mode...

I didn't see it. Just noticed the movement about 25 feet from the window and there they were.

Pretty sure this is the same falcon that's been around for years. I'd put up the bird feeder about 2 feet away from a large flat-topped evergreen. The little snowbirds and sparrows would hide in the bush and make sorties out to the feeder one at a time. The falcon would swoop down and if he missed he'd stand on top of the bush, extend his wings out as far as he could and just scream while dancing around. He'd keep it up until one of the little ones would panic and chirp "I JUST CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE!" and try to fly away.
BAM! Instant dinner. Winning through intimidation.

Some mornings I'd come in and the snow would be stained in blood with a few feathers floating around. Mother Nature can be a cruel teacher.

I'm working that day so it will be just another day for me.

That, is actually kind of wicked awesome!

That would be really cool to see! I love hawks...eagles...large predatory birds in general. I've found it a lot more difficult to photograph hawks that eagles, however. Even though there's a lot more of them around, they are very sensitive to movement and noise.

That's been my experience, too. Eagles are just SO big and relatively slow that they're easy. We have a small hydroelectric dam in town and some group has erected an eagle-watching hut with a large window overlooking the shallow side of the dam to watch the eagles feed.

A couple of months ago I was out behind my building with Scout (my avatar) who likes to check out what deer have been by recently. A large redtail hawk landed in a sycamore that I was standing near and kept cocking his head watching me. Suddenly, he takes off and heads for...my dog! Scout goes right around 50 lbs, but that didn't stop Mr. Redtail. He swooped down and rotated his talons forward while I watched in horror. About 5 feet from contact he thinks, "Naw, this one's too big..." pulled in his feet and rolled off to the side. It was only when he started to flap again that Scout knew he was there and flattened himself, but if would have been too late.

There are a lot of micro dogs and cats that go missing around here, and everyone is quick to blame coyotes. I'm not so sure they are the only ones causing it.
