Thanks cam. Anyway I went ahead and drilled three holes put some pins in and epoxied it together.

Looking good, DJ. Did you finish the front of the scales first? They're kinda hard to work on once they're epoxied to the knife...

The wood came off a plumb tree we cut down a few years back. The wood was drying out ever sense, it's crazy hard stuff to. I mean it was about 2 inches thick and it took about a 2.5 to 3 minutes to cut with an almost new hand saw and I wasn't going slow by any means. About the sheath, I'll probably have to cut just a little bit off of it.

Damn. They were flat but need a little bit of sanding. Oh well.

You'll remember next time. :)

Tape the blade well and flush to the scale fronts.
Clamp the knife in your vise by the handle, tip up, and sand with a small flat backer to your paper.
Do this *first* before you shape the scales, as it's much easier to clamp against the flat scales before they're all contoured. Don't ask how I know that...

Looks like my project is on hold. Just jot the 13 stuck 1/4 inch deep into my palm. I'm starting to sweat and loosin feeling in my right hand. FU**

So awhile back, I talked Murph into sandblasting some tweener scales for me. Being the down to earth good-natured gentleman he is, he took it upon himself and made it happen and mailed them out. Got them in today, and I have to agree with K9-Handler's estimation of just how much they improve the grip. Grippy without being rough, they are a perfect solution to handle scales being too smooth. I highly recommend it if anyone has been on the fence about it.

No photos?

Honestly there isn't much to photo, it looks the same but flatter. I think K9 Handler had a pic of the sandblasted grivory, but I doubt with my poor photography skills and crappy camera I could manage to get anything that would really show the differences.

(Flatter as in the opposite of glossier, not flatter as in reduced in thickness to a more even surface.)

I hear ya. I actually think I remember seeing K9's.
