Pre-order ZT 0562 now up at BladeHQ!!!!

Timelines are fluid and generally expand. Also, for both ZT and Spyderco regular production knives if you can temper your excitement and wait a few months you can generally find them at an appreciative discount.

Nothing could be worse than having to wait all year last year for the 566. After that, I can wait for this one standing on my head. ;)

It has only been 10+ months since the regular production ZT 0770CF was announced! :)

No jokes. Just truth. And I'm not pointing a finger at you. When it comes to using the word "soon", KAI is a lightweight compared to some other companies I've dealt with. Those of us who have been around for awhile have simply learned to ignore it. But if you're confused about what "soon" really means and you happen to be married, tell your wife you're going to do something for her "soon" and then don't do it. You'll find out what it means in short order. ;)

Man, show some respect. Its because of people complaining so much KAI shut down here on BF.

Yeah you're dejected the knives aren't here we get it...no need to be so condescending

I just don't understand why people are jumping at the sight of seeing KAI post and say something derogatory. Class it up guys, if you have a problem with knives not being produced to your standards just buy something else.

^^^ that reminds me. I gotta go being the trash cans in
I rest my case. ;)

I don't know whether to laugh or cry! :D

I'll say it again. I'm not beating up on Thomas. I'm just saying it like it is. There's a common meaning to the word "soon" that knife manufacturers routinely disregard. If people don't believe me, they can look up the word "soon" for themselves. If someone says something is going to happen "soon" and it doesn't happen . . . especially if that pattern is repeated over and over again . . . it makes them look like the boy who cried wolf. Sooner or later, they lose all credibility and people simply stop believing them. So what would I suggest as a reasonable timeframe for something to happen "soon" in? Hold on a second. I'll go ask my wife . . .

Man, stuff like this is why Kai rarely posts. Retailers put up knives for pre-order before having any kind of delivery estimate, people pre-order immediately, and then those that pre-ordered complain to Kai for not releasing them fast enough.

A pre-order on a website only means that the company placed an order for a certain quantity of an item and is pre-selling that quantity. I have had a $5 deposit on the 0562CF since within fifteen minutes of BladeHQ taking pre-orders. I will get the knife when I get the knife. Kai has never told me when they will arrive and dealers appear to have been told it might see shipment as early as Q3 2014, but there are always possible issues - either mechanically or in the supply of materials.

Kai doesn't tend to give time estimates to customers. The only possible positive outcome is that they come out on time, and there are so many things that can push back production that you're almost guaranteed to have to move dates back unless you padded the estimated timeframe.

What I'm trying to say is don't blame one company for another company deciding to accept pre-orders on an item the first company hasn't given a solid estimate on.

As long as the manufacturer says "it's coming", I don't care how long it takes. What I object to is when a manufacturer says it's coming "soon" when they know better or ought to know better.

If a manufacturer . . . ANY MANUFACTURER . . . is going to use the English language, they ought to use it as it's commonly understood instead of reinventing it to serve their needs.

Hey, most manufacturers "soon" is still quicker than a Busse "two weeks" :p

Well, you aren't being forced to buy their knives. If ZT/Kershaw's use, or in your opinion misuse, of the word "soon" is such an issue, then spend your money elsewhere. It is really pretty simple...

Dude, if it means anything I dont see what you said that would be considered offensive. And I didnt see you directing your general statement towards any one person or any one company. Simply stating the overuse of that particular term in a general sense. But you still should have known it was going to go over like a fart in church. Its a tough crowd these days.

Did I miss the part in this statement where he said KAI or kershaw? Or any other manufacture by name for that matter? Do we hate to wait? Yes. Are we willing to wait? Yes

He is simply stating you should just say it's coming. Not say soon. We don't care is it takes 10 months. Just please don't say soon if it takes 10 months. I think it wouldn't get people spooled up if the word soon wasn't used if it will be a long wait. That's all he is getting at.

HIS STATMENT AND MINE ARE NOT DIRECTED AT ZT/KAI/KERSHAW OR ANY OTHER KNIFE MAKER INDIVIDUALLY!! SIMPLY A BROAD SPECTRUM STAYMENT TOWARDS THE KNIFE MAKING INDUSTRY.

From my experience, it seems like so much time passes between their announcements and the knifes release that most people forget the knives even exist. I wish they'd just hang on to it until they're actually ready to start selling them. Take the Kershaw/Emerson collabs. There was a TON of excitement over them when they released the info on them, and now you don't hear a peep about them. I don't know whether it's because there's not much else to say about them as no new info has come out, or people really just don't care anymore since the "newness" has worn off and there's no indication when they'll even be available.

I am not a candidate for office but I approve of this message. :)

Hmmmm - not sure why you're singling out the knife manufacturers, this happens in almost any industry. To be honest, other industries are even worse - they create their own terms to describe the process, Vaporware, comes to mind. Anyone remember how long Duke Nukem Forever was in development?

Cause this is a knife fourm. But I agree other industries are just as bad. Let's face it we live in an instant gratification world

Look everyone, I got this inside track so listen up.

We're a day closer to delivery today than we were yesterday...
