Pre Show @ Shot Jewels

that is ridiculous! i would be way to embarrassed to turn in a couple of those. i just dont understand what people are thinking sometimes.

The 5 was literally beat to shit with a steel hammer on the spine. Pure idiocy is what we are up against.

I whole heartily agree.. I'd be the first to offer to buy some of if not all these broken knives.. I could make a sweet psk knife out of the 4 blade, put a saw back on the 5 etc..:D

I would hope when considering warranty replacement that beating the shit out of it with a hammer would not result in getting a replacement. Wow those pics are hard to look at.

I tend to flinch everytime I see thread that has "I'm looking for a knife that can do some light prying." Buy a crow bar, they're a lot cheaper than a nice production knife.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the knife replacement emails that come through or have come through in the past. I'm sure some of them are honest breakages but I bet some of them are full of WTF.

I've done a couple idiotic things to knives before... I've batonned knives with a hammer. I've even batonned a knife with another knife! In any of those cases though I knew I was at fault if anything broke. Wouldn't have heard crying from me had one broke--I wanted to see what would happen and knew it was horribly abnormal use.

i think that notch was cut with bayonet mounting in mind. so he could use hose clamps or duct tape to attach it to his airsoft ar15 clone. then decided to remove the tip so nobody got hurt.....

that is terrible. I don't do anything with my knives that would ever make them look like that.

get an ax, machate, get a striker for the fire rod and put down the damn grinder lol.

That's some crazy stuff right there...

To me the 3 kind of looks like they tried to make a HEST style bottle opener on the top but failed so they snapped the tip off so they'd get a replacement.

Just goes to show you, no matter how will a product is made there is an idiot that can destroy it. And if your one of these idiots i hope you've read these post.

Ouch ...
and that black Izula looks nearly brand new ... *starts sobbing* poor li'l knife ...

Not that my Izzy's been pampered - I took away some coating right before the jimping and squared the spine, but I hardly removed any material besides the coating ...

wtf were these guys thinking. seriously my 4 is though as nails, i cant think of how i could break it. and the 5!!!!seriously i would need a .50 cal to bust the tip off my 5. idiots never cease to amaze me

To me a warranty has always been meant to cover a manufacturer defect. ESEE's warranty is awesome, but if I bust one of my knives in half doing something silly with it, I'll just buy another.

I have too but I have also chalked it up to stupidity on my behalf. :)

One time I got a group buy of knives on Ebay. All I wanted was the Spyderco and there were 3 others that came with the lot. I had the best time torturing them. One I threw at a tree and it exploded like a scud missile. The other one I did a flex test in in a vice. PLIIIIING. The last one I was whittling with and the liner moved all the way over a jammed between the blade and the nested liner. The 3 lasted almost 45 minutes.

The one that really pissed me off is the Izula that had the end cut off using a cutoff blade. That just showed us that someone wanted a new knife and simply put it in a chop saw and cut the end off and sent it back. I hope whoever that sorry bastard was, trips, falls and breaks his f*&kin neck. Not because of screwing us out of money, but because he's a dishonest SOB.

I beat my Izula's spine with a hammer. It's just a tool. If I break it though, I'd wouldn't send it in :p , I'll just buy another. I've done that with countless small flathead screwdrivers prying off old transmissions where a wonder bar or prybar can't fit.
