last year Scandi was all the rage for bushcraft knives, this year it was Convex for bushcraft knives,

what grind will be all the rage for -bushcraft- knives in 2010............and who will start the trend  and how many times will the word bushcraft be used!

My new invention, the Upside-Down-Wedding-Cake grind, will definitely be all the rage.

I'm also thinking about using the term 'Knifing in the woods' to replace 'bushcraft'.
I think Convex might stay put for the time being.

Convex and scandi will continue to dominate. I myself will try not to use the word bushcraft too often!

I think it will either be "condi" or "scanvex". I'm think hybrid grinds.

Basically the Starbucks crowd will take over and start ordering their knives with 1/2 convex, 1/2 scandi with a touch of hollow ground just for flavor.

I think "Bushcraft" will eventually be replaced with "Sustainable Nature Craft" and involve doing nothing but sitting at home and staring at the tree in your back yard since setting foot in the woods will always leave a footprint.

I think we will see a decline in Scandi type Bushcrafters and an increase in good old fashioned hard working knives with blades around 5" with full flat or convexed grinds !

Actually just my wish but I'd like to see some makers come out with some blades that are thin, say 1/8" or thinner, with contoured handles and a full flat grind.

In all honesty, I'm interested to see where the Machete craze goes.

That's the bandwagon I'm on. When I think about how much money I spent on big, heavy Busse's, when what all I really needed was an Imacasa.... :shudders: :foot:

:D

I want to see a half scandi-half convex grind. We can call it the Scandex grind! The way I see it Mora's will start to come in 3V and still cost under 50 dollars ;)

+1 on larger sized blades: Camp knives, Machetes, Goloks...

The 7" Camp Knife, for me, has really filled many aspects of survival and bushcraft.
