predict the bushcraft trend for 2010

I've been thinking of getting some Old Hickory. Of course I also need some more Moras. And machetes. And a couple decent full size axes. And a Silky saw. I'm sure I'll think of other things. I predict that after all these wild predictions, things will pretty much stay the same.

Whats that neat folder with the brownish handle?
Me likey!

A trend i would love to see would be a multi-tool geared towards bushcrafters or carvers and whittlers .
I mean really how many straight screwdrivers blades do you actually need?
How about a multi with multiple blades, drop-point/sheepfoot/spey blade etc, say around the size of a Vic Spirit?
They don't need to be long blades say roughly the length of the Sheepsfoot/Spey blades on a large Case Stockman.
Also maybe with the pins being removable like on SOG multi-tools so you can customize change out the blades to any order you like.
Would still like to keep the scissors, saw, canopener (or Vic style combo-opener) and the pliers though.

A trend I hope to see is this fat bastard getting down to his goal weight and getting out for some good hikes, canoeing and fishing. My knees are so bad in this cold, it's all I can do to walk out the front door.

How about a trend toward attractive hiker/woodcraft women charity dating old, fat bastid outdoorsmen? That would help me almost as much as dropping some tonnage!:D

well, can't supply your dream tool, but check out the Carvin Jack:

That Carvin' Jack is really neat!

Hmmm so the instructions says you have to choose the left or right hand model models based on
A) what hand you use and
B) whether you cut towards or cut away from yourself.
Ummm well i'm ambidextrous and tend to push AND pull cut, choosing the best model might be difficult for me ,lol.
If the price were a little lower i'd probably make a best guess and buy one.

For now i'll stick to my Vic Spirit plus my Case large Stockman setup.

I already noticed that disturbing trend in my SAK One-Hand Trekker---that has no point to speak of.

:thumbup: I second that one as the trend I'd most like to see.

A few minutes with a file would fix that right up! :D But yeah, I know what you mean there.:o

Same here.

STR made that BUSSTR for me (it's red micarta), great knife, and I do believe some models have a Koyote blade!

that is a great homesteading axe, but for woodsbumming? ouch, my back
You talk about the kettle balls all of the time yet a little 10 1/2" blade scares you? Sad thing is the handle snapped like an anorexic having nookie (without any notice)- good thing I was prepared for it, now they get to make knife handles as I know the wood is horrid for impacts.

Got the Leuko in too- I'll get some pics up next week!

Hahaha! I am actually in love with that axe. Wouldn't be my top choice for backpacking, but I want one for woodcraft badly.

yea i plan to buy one of the GB ones in 2010. I have this strange idea of building a hand hewn "cabin" canopy for my truck........
