Just for some fun! For your bushcraft, survival, and/or EDC needs what's your favorite fixed blade length? For time sake, let's include the length in inches, and assume if you say "4 inch" it will include 4-4.99 inches. And so one. If you have a favorite fix blade share with us!

Like I said this is for fun, a way to escape the world for a few minutes.

I know the poll is funny, it corrected in a weird way. Sorry about that!

For EDC, I lean toward 3.5 -4.5 inch fixed blades.
I don't consider that size ideal for a survival knife,  except for the acknowledgment that the best knife for survival is the one you have when you need it.

6 - 7. Also OK for EDC, just need the right pants.

I was trying to include more, and I knew there would be someone with a beast of a knife lol.
If there's chopping to be done, size matters.
It isn't as if only a few of us have knives >9".
One inch increments was just a poorly conceived poll - bushcraft, survival, and EDC are significantly different...and the three groups can barely play nicely together on the same site; so you can pretty much forget agreement on something as subjective as size.

In the woods, 5-6" if weight isn't an issue, or about 3" is if is. I like ~5" because it provides a pleasing 5/5 handle/blade balance, and ~3" because it's enough to get the job done while still being small enough to be lightweight.

In the latter category, I've been carrying the White River Backpacker Pro for some time now (3" blade). This year's new contender for camping trips is the Bradford Guardian 5.5 (5" blade). It's dark out, so all I've got are file photos. :)

I have fixed blade knives that I carry/use that vary in length from a 1" karambit to a 12" machette but most of the fixed blades in my collection are 3.5-6" long.

Which I "prefer" to carry/use depends on the intended task.
