Price gouging/flipping and sales offers/comments

How is this even an issue? Sure it sucks, but a seller asks what they want for for their knife. If a guy wants to charge $500 for a beat up Sebenza, thats no different than a guy asking $1200 for a brand new ZT LE. That is the seller's decision, price gouging cannot and should not be regulated. That is how the world works. Don't like it, don't buy it, and don't whine about it.

Its not like the forum is a cult full of people dancing naked around a fire singing kumbaya passing around knives at cost between each other in between sips of funny tasting Kool-Aid now is it?

I like paying it forward and furthering the hobby over seeking profit but at some point we have to consider that there IS value associated with an object or else we'd all be gifting 100% of the time... and value does not necessarily mean MSRP or even what someone else paid for it initially.

If someone buys that dude's $900 listing, then that's what it's worth... if it sells for $600, then that's what it's worth... if it sells for $300- well if it sells for $300 I'll take it and return mine :D

edit: nm- I saw Kelama offered $350 already haha

I think you should re-read the post.

This thread is about how if your goal here is to profit off of people, BladeForums is going to start asking for dealer levels of money since you're using the forum to conduct business.

He (and I) were answering Kelama's post concerning a specific incident.

I hope that some of the other member's who tried in vain to land one of these ZT LE model's, (without luck) will chime in here- I'm very interested to learn what other member's take is, on this subject.

That sums it up with one minor correction. This is not a new rule.

The vast majority of knives decrease in value when purchased.

And people drop $400+ on knives all the time that don't go up in value. Microtech, Chris reeve, strider etc etc etc don't go up in value.

I'm talking about this particular LE and people who do not buy high end production knives. You know, the people who are shocked to find out we carry and own Xm's and CRK'S. If you noticed most of the members posting of their success on the buying frenzy are rather new to this forum including myself. While I own a Strider SnG I paid $475 for because I really like it, this 0392 would not be something I would jump on if it was a regular stocked production folder for $375. I would look for a RH black scale, bronze hardware piece that I prefer. The perceived value is the reason most buy it period imho. Actually I'm sure many new members who were successful were not in the market to drop hundreds on a knife this week had it not been for all the buzz about secondary market and how senior members were coveting this release. People do it with concert, sporting events, etc just to make money. Also this 0392 makes a nice bartering tool for some of the rather harder to find folder combinations people are looking for. This is a great thread OP, going to make for some fun reading on our favorite hobby.

I'm going to close this one down as it seems people just want to focus on one brand or sale.
