Price you absolutely refuse to pay no matter how good the knife is

I have yet to cross the $1k threshold, but since I have no safe queens, just some I baby a bit more and some I'll pop a bottle cap with without a 2nd thought, I would venture to say that I can't imagine ever spending more than $1500 on a knife...
*edit to add, unless I win a big lottery, Then I'll be out torture testing and prying rocks in the garden with a $10k custom, and post pics, just because I can.... j/k, kinda sorta....

So far I've kept each purchase under $200, not that I haven't been sorely tempted by threads here.
I've spent in inordinate amount of time on the Olamic site, pining away for a Wayfarer, but I couldn't bring myself to use it so I've put it off. I fear setting that precedent.

I was into watches long before I got more interested in knives. So for me $300 seems almost cheap for a quality dopamine hit.
This exactly. Tough to complain about a $300 price tag on a knife when you're wearing $3,000 (or more) on wrist.

Though it can be quite a competition between the two in my budget - do I pick up a new knife this month and wait longer for my next watch, or wait on the knife and get the watch sooner? 🤔

I have 7 Damascus Mnandi's, 9 full customs, and 5 William Henry's, among others. So as long as I can afford an object of desire (or what normal people call knives), and the knives make me happy, I'll buy without guilt. And if the economy or my household crashes, I can sell some and not lose too much money. As I remind the wife, a mistress would cost much more.

My two most expensive knives are both going to be put up for sale this week. Not sure what that says about me.

I feel like around $400 CAD is about as high as I go for knives I like that I'm okay putting to actual use.

No hard limit, but the most I’ve spent is around $500. Even if I were very wealthy I don’t think I’d spend thousands on a knife - but I’m willing to run the experiment if anyone would like to help me set up a “go fund my knife” page. 😜

I've yet to find that spot, but I've yet to reach $1000. But I'm carrying my Alan Davis custom. I think $1500 might be the most.

For me about $225 is the highest I'll pay for a knife.
I respect a knife can be a work of art or craftsmanship.
I only buy knives as users.
At about $225 you can buy a top quality knife.

Price is very subjective. A knife I think is expensive, someone else will consider inexpensive. The most expensive knife I own costs $200USD brand new. I bought it on clearance for half that. I carry it occasionally, but have others that were less expensive that I carry more often.

I might pay more for a collectors item or custom piece, but I probably wouldn't use anything that's more then 5-$600.

Plus you can't sell a mistress when you no longer want her.

The height of my collection saw about 60 knives...most under 100.00, and maybe 1 or 2 in the 500 to 600 range. Then I sold most of my low end knives for 200-500 knives. Now those are on the way out, and I just purchased my first custom at 1450.00. I never thought I'd get that deep in this rabbit hole, but I still feel like I'm a beginner. Crazy hobby for sure!! As far as limits, gets higher every day!

At one time, I had to think long and hard before pulling out $30 for a Buck 110. Many years and many knives later, I still carry my Bucks. How much will I spend now? That would be about zero, since I have more knives than I can use. Maybe I'm getting old, but I value experiences over possessions. I want to use the knives I have until they become like old friends.

Idk if I have a hard limit other than what I can reasonably afford at the time I want to buy a particular knife. However, I don't like feeling like I've been taken advantage of. For example, I love the Cold Steel Trail Master and bought an O-1 model directly from CS for $150 in 2018. I know inflation is bad and better materials can drive prices higher, but $569.99 for a 3V model is just silly.
