I'm not ready to write this deal off as bad yet but I am having a spot of trouble on a deal and want advise from some of the members here. Traded two diamond rings for some knives. The rings were my chicks and I intend to sell some of the knives and give her the money. And then pay her out of pocket for the ones I wanna keep. Anyway, the member I traded was not completely accurate in their assessment of the blades. One that was labled as new is clearly not as the sheath is worn to death and the very end of the tip is blunted or possibly even broken off. Another of the knives was said to have some normal wear, and though not a safe, was in good shape. This is kinda true but it had extremely bad pitting on the blade near the edge where it looks like someone allowed the blade to rust in storage and then polished the rust out of the steel. So it's all pitted and ate up looking. Not what I consider normal wear. That's more like repaired abuse.

SO... we both recieved out items on Monday. I know he did because tracking says so. I have tried to contact two or three times since. I told him that I wasn't all that happy with the trade and I'd either like to trade for some of the other items he offered me (and I'd pay for shipping on that) or reverse the trade all together if he too was unhappy with his end of the deal (If he didn't like the rings). I've heard nothing out of him. He either cannot or will not respond to me. Now if he pops up in a week and says family things happened or whatever that's cool, I understand. No harm no foul. However, this lack of communication and this much time going by makes me worried to take the rings back. Jewelry is easily modified and he could simply replace the diamonds with fakes and then say he's unhappy and wanna trade back. So I'm getting to the point to where I'm afraid to reverse the trade. I guess I could insist he send me the rings first and only after having them inspected by my jewler will I then return his items. But I'm starting to get a little annoyed and slightly paranoid over this. The guy has wonderful feedback. He almost has as many positive feedbacks as he does posts. So strage to have this go so sour and his knife descriptions be so poor.

What should I do guys? Eat it and deal with the bumb knives? Keep pushing this until he trades me something else? Insist I be given my rings back with an inspection period to make sure they haven't been tampered with? What? I don't wanna name names right now because this could simply be that he got sick and has been in the hospital for the week and I don't wanna kick dirt on a members rep if it's all just a big misunderstanding. But from the hip this is starting to stink.

Insist you get the rings back with an inspection period. If you're not hapy with the knives, which are not as advertised, then you have no reason to bend over and take it. It's may be more trouble than it's worth to try to get more in trade, unless he's really willing to work with you.

You forgot to add that he misrepresented the knives he traded you. That to me is enough reason to name this member, I surely do not wanna risk trading with him or her, Im sure Im not the only one.

Communication is the key, without it deals seem bad, feel bad and look bad.

I can never figure out how someone involved in a deal does not understand the need to maintain open communication UNTIL both parties are happy/satisfied.

This deal will go south really quickly unless party 2 communicates with party 1

That's why I emphasize the availability of pine and what a great 2X4 it makes during the initial stages of my dealings!!!:D:D;).

I agree with the rest of the guys. There seems to be a lot of this going on lately. Name the party and let them answer publicly for the misrepresentation of the product and their lack of reply. It may do you some good though to post pics of the items and their previously stated condition so that no one can back peddle once the gauntlet is thrown down. I had a similar situation happen last year and members of this forum stood behind me and assisted in the positive resolution.

I don't want to do business with this person. I would like to know who it is.

same here, i would not want to do business with this person. i actually found out who it was but will not post the name out of respect for the OP. if anyone wants to know just send me a pm.

I felt with him alot in the past. I had his phone number. I told him about this. He said he has been out of town for 5 days and would be able to contact him tonight late. What he does now will make or break it. But he is aware of this now. Thought I could help. J

See, I figured it was something like that. That's why I really didn't wanna throw any dirt on his name. I hope it all works out.

wow he has 317 positive feedbacks and not one negative. hopefully this gets worked out. and definitely post the results of what happens

I've dealt with Swoopmaster in the past, and he's been good in our dealings. Hopefully, he'll come on here and clear this up. :thumbup:

he still failed to give a good description of the knives that he traded. that to me is not someone i would deal with.

I surely do not wanna risk trading with him or her, Im sure Im not the only one.

:foot::foot::foot:

Looks like I got a little ahead of myself, my fault. I have traded with swoopmaster in the past and have had good results. Im sure he will do whatever it takes to make it right. Hope all is well with him.
