Problem with high end production knife...

Almost looks like those blemishes are suppose to be there....a marbled look, not too shabby

If its not what you want. Get what you paid for, I assume at that price it includes warranty (not sure with reate) or make an exchange with the dealer you bought it from. Don't mess with it unless you can except it.

Return it.

Does anyone know if knife center just puts it back on the shelf?

The bent tip is too small to be noticeable, too bad it contradicts with my OCD. I mean I don't plan on stabbing things tip first, but its more of an aesthetic thing knowing that you have a perfectly unblemished, unscratched knife.

And i agree. It looks ok, but I'm more worried about the bent tip.

maybe those white blemishes are some kind of grease that soaked into the satin finish ?

Don't be a sucker, return it.

Unless the tip bend is so minor that you won't miss it if it breaks off. Bending steel like that weakens it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. The blemishes were dealt with by wiping some sharpening oil and the bent tip was sanded down. This knife was bought to be carried so it can't be completely flawless. ;)

Its extremely minor. I can't see it. To be honest, its more of a metal residue than it is a broken tip. Just sanded it off.

What was the point of this thread?
It's obvious you already had made up your mind as to what you were going to do. So what was the point in creating an account, posting a thread, and ignoring every piece of (good IMO) advice you were given?

Good luck with the knife. I hope it's not a lemon.

How do you guys know for sure it is a defective product? From what the OP described, showed, and did with, I am more inclined to believe it is actually not. A bent tip that you actually cannot see? come on.

Yup. First OP says his OCD won't let him rest because of the 'bent' tip.....that is invisible.
Wish we got a pic of the tip.
Weird thread.

A bit of TLC can clear the blemishes, but a bent tip is unacceptable. No point keeping it as you may not want to use it much since its having issues. If there is a return policy, I would opt for it.

The white blemish looks like left overs from a chemical cleaning of the sharp metal object. They just didn’t dry it off well enough.

Blade tip...it’s amusing watching you complain about something and watch the community try to help you out only for you to go the opposite direction. That made us wonder what was the point of this thread in first place if you were not going to listen to any of the comments?

He wanted us to all go "it's fine" or "you're being overly perfectionist" so that way he would return the knife. He's a natural contrarian.

If it is a knife never to be used return it.
If its a knife for hard use then use it and within a month it will have a whole lot of history all over it.

If you are still using the knife in ten years time then its a knife with a lot of luck built in. If it fails or lost then it has no luck. What it looks like today has no bearing on how much luck is built in. You might exchange it for a perfect one and lose it the next day.
If you don't use it, its for admiring then and its already lost its luck because it not pleasing you for the issues you have brought up. So exchange it.

For a $400 knife its either been played with in the shop or kicked around the work bench when made. Those marks shouldn't be there as a new product.
