Sorry guys, wont let me post pics, Im only a registered user maybe? So if I wanted all of the balde coating off ( which I don't ) I could just use scotch bright and get it so the blade has a satin finish??

Thanks again for you replies

Matt,
You can upload your pictures to Photobucket and then you will be able to copy them and post them here, They offer a free basic account as well as Flicker and others.

Matt,
You are welcome, Think nothing of it, We were all new here at one time.
As far as marriage help, Don't ask me, I'm single.:)

Hey Fielder, don't really think this is the place to be talking bout buying and selling but I just bought this and I aint giving up on it especially not for cheap lol:)

Sorry for the inappropriate language!! I will take note and try not to make the same mistake!!

Appologies

Matt

Matt, I was only joking about selling it to me, especially the cheap part! Although if you did sell im sure you would easily find a buyer, myself included.
I think sticking with it is the best thing. All the best with it.

you could, but way way easier to buy a can of paint stripper at the hardware store. works way faster, much less effort. the hand sanding comes in after the coating comes off, if you want it extra shiny.
i use jasco paint stripper.
1) wear rubber gloves, it's nasty stuff
2) i use a baking sheet, cover it in aluminum foil as my work area (edges on the baking sheet keep my mess contained). but just a sheet of aluminum foil on the ground would probably work fine. pour some out on the foil, set your knife in it, pour some more on top. doesn't take a lot, just need to cover all the coating you want to come off. doesn't harm the edge at all. only impacts the coating.
3) wait 1-8 beers. depends how many you can put away in about 15-20 minutes :)
4) get a paint scraper. minimal chance of scraping the metal on the blade if you use a plastic one, i've used metal ones and razor blade scrapers carefully before and been fine. it will come off very very easily. it's probably actually bubbled off the blade on a lot it already.
5) wash the blade off after all the scraping. scrub away at the edges near the handle to get the remnants.

you may be done right there, you might want to really satin it up with some hand sanding.

--if/when you get paint remover on your hand/arm, you'll know it, it's a chemical burn, you feel it in a minute or two. wash well and it goes away.
--don't worry, paint stripper doesn't hurt the handle at all either. coat the whole thing up good so you can get the spine around the handles
--if you want the busse logo to remain visible, use some pcb etchant on the logo before you strip. couple drops right on the logo, let it sit for a couple hrs, wash off. repeat several times. i let the last one sit overnight on that BATAC i posted pics of earlier. it will etch the logo a little deeper into the blade so it doesn't fade with the coating stripping. will only affect exposed metal, so doesn't impact the coating at all.

Heya Gentemanndvm, Thankyou again for the advice, I sent an email to Garth at Busse on Tuesday and I have heard back fro him already" today, WHICH IS EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE, absolutely hats off to those guys!!!!:D. I think I may send it back over to the WONDERFUL Country of it's birth shortly. He said he would put me a new coat on at no extra cost of a colour of my choice, though I think I will stick with the blade in black how it is now. I can really appreciate how you guys feel I was been silly about the coating coming off and being lucky enough just to beable to own this blade is great and the feedback I have had off of the folks on this forum has been cool. Since a lot of you told me about you stripping your blades I have looked up some fantastic pics of others who have done the same with their blades and it is tempting. It is also extremely comforting to know that Busse are more than willing to help me out with my problem also:thumbup:

Also Gent I am seeing that your from Spokane in Washington State? How lucky do some people get lol I would never EVER be in the house:)

Peace out ( But with a shotgun to ensure it!!!:D )

Matt

Also I will take Josephs advice and get myself an account on photobucket so I can upload some pics.

thanks again

Matt

Why not go comp or satin finish? If it is going to be a user it's just going to end up scuffed and scratched again.

Gentemanndvm...Would you please tell me what brand knife that is in your group photo? The great looking pumpkin! And thanks for the useful information...Cheers.
