Problems encountered regrinding a TOPS Tracker

Ok, I thought it looked like you lost a 1/2" of the chopping portion by the pics. I'm very interested in what you're doing. The design is interesting. I, like most, thought it was silly at first, but after playing around with one, I'm not so sure. One thing which helped me was that my buddy spent countless hours watching others/reading about/using his own Tracker. He gave me a crash course in the basics, such as grasping the blade and getting your hand off the handle. I still didn't like it, preferring my khukuri, but it's grown on me slowly. I think TOPS took the design and ran. Other's, like you, evaluated the design and put more thought into what it should be. TOPS makes a billion styles and can't do this. I think they did OK, but the consensus is it requires tweaking. TOPS is making a longer version, but to me it looks like a tactical hatchet. Thanks for the response.

One more thing, if you refer back to the above thread, you notice it states Tom Brown seemed to place a bizarre importance on the knife being easily thrown. Why I have no idea:confused: Anyway, that could be some of the reason for odd balance or "parts" placement which makes no sense to most users.

It does seem, as a khukuri fan, that the sweet spot would be around that transition zone if using a mid-grip on the handle for chopping. Some get around this by using the rear most grip and even adding a paracord wrap at the end for security. I guess I'll see for myself now that I own one. I really appreciate the time you and others here have taken to dissect the design and discuss the issues and tweaks. I'd love hear from the others using Brian's and Hunt's designs as well. Thanks again.
