Problems with SOG anyone?

I don't care for their folders. Every single SOG folder I have owned has developed excessive and unacceptable blade play within a very short period of use. Their fixed blades are nice, but are priced a little high in my estimation.

Is this problem also evident with the Tomcat and Vulcan sir? Thanks

This is disturbing and has totally put off me buying any SOG. I have to pay substantial shipping when buying goods from the US and sometimes the shipping can cost more than the goods, so I am very sensitive to quality.

To ship a knife back to the US for warranty issues is a last resort and expensive (e.g. a 7" fixed knife can be a US$90 round trip), and if I ever have to do that, I expect top class customer service.

I was looking at buying the Tigershark and Seal PUP, plain edge, but will stick with Busse and Bussekin or ESEE for the time being - you never hear of complaints against those knives in their forums.

I no longer deal with SOG. After a string of problems with SOG, the one to seal the deal was when I got a SEAL Pup Elite. The knife was fine but the sheath I recieved was mangled as though it was chewed up by a dog. SOG said the sheaths are not warrantied but I finally talked them into sending me another. This time I recieved a nylon sheath that came without the plastic insert and without the strap to attach to my belt. Basically rendering the sheath useless for carry. I contacted them again and they told me they would do nothing about it. I waited a couple of weeks, called SOG back, and this time I lied and told them I ordered an knife and it arrived without a sheath. After 3 or 4 miniutes of discussion, they finally agreed to send me another nylon sheath. Later on I sold that knife. I have nothing good to say about SOG.:thumbdn:

I think SOG has definitely changed course from what they used to be. I've recently handled, though not used, many of their knives. Regardless of weight they felt cheap and lockup wasn't that great on a lot of them. There are plenty of other companies whose products I feel are better, and a better value. SOG needs to hit some home runs in the near future or they'll be out of business. They can't rely on their multitools to survive.

One of them is Tomcat 3.0 which I've never used or carried it. It's just safe-queen in my collection box. The other one if Vision (ATS34) and was only 2 weeks old when I found out the first tip of the serrated part was broken off.

At least if they had decent customer service, I wouldn't be sour but they didn't. From my experience with them for past 3 weeks, their customer service has been nothing but complete frustration.

After asking for a few screws or free belt clip from other companies take about 7-10 days process, I haven't heard any response from SOG for 3 weeks as of today after asking for a new belt clip for my Vision (SV68).

I know some of you are happy with their service and call it 'Second to None' then I should call the other knife manufactures' customer service, 'None'. Because SOG customer service will be permanently 'Second' to other knife manufacturers in my book.

My experiences with SOG almost warrant a line in my signature warning people to avoid them at all costs. Most people get lucky and are happy with their SOGs but man, you don't want to have to deal with that company for any customer service.

Attrocious.

Compared to every other knife company I've dealt with, they were rude and disrespectful and did everything they could to lose a customer, and I could not have been more polite, offereing to pay any costs, pay for parts etc. After FOUR MONTHS of constant contact I finally got the replacement washers for the Flash I, which came with a chewed up washer making the knife almost impossible to open out of the box.

What a wasted opportunity to gain some loyalty. All over a few cents of washer.

I see I'm not the only victim.

The knife is pretty low quality anyway and soon developed a ton of play. I had a Seki Government fixed blade and it was a great knife, but I would certainly recommend looking elsewhere for a knife.

Glad I got that off my chest. :D

AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Had their Tac $120 AUTO KNIFE. It had huge blade play out of the box and the thing even rattled when shaken. The stop pin was shorter than it's housing- making all the noise. It was a piece of crap.

The only SOG's I have are a Flash I and a Visionary 2.
Most ppl can tell u about the Flash (light, loose and overrated)
The Visionary however is an arc lock and has seen Edc
for the last 2 yrs. My only complaint is the flimsy pckt clip.
It still locks solid and has seen plenty of flick open/close.
Hope your exp with cs is good.
I sent a Spydie and a Kershaw in the same day for repair/issues.
It's been 2 1/2 wks. I'm interested to see who finishes first!
