Production HEST photo

I really like RC designs for their simplicity and usefulness (and their great fit and finish of course). BUT I don´t like HEST. It has too many features for me. I will rather stick with Izula or RC3.
 
Sorry J a K, I already have two 3's, an RC4, an Izula, an RC5 , and a TAK...so guys keep bringing the different knives with different features. After all there has to be some justification for buying another knife....See how humans can rationalize anything!

When its so... :D In addition more types mean more satisfied knife users. In few year there will be RAT knife for everyone ;)

At first when I saw the HEST photos, I thought it looked pretty awesome, even though I can open a beer bottle with my Izula or any other knife just fine. I couldnt wait to see how this thing looked with the scales added.

When I first saw this photo, I was a bit disappointed in the looks. I am sure that it would work excellently, just thought that it was a little awkward looking with those little scales.

Now I look at it and I want one. Don't know what it is, but I am really warming up to it. I am glad to see that it doesnt say "Hostile Environment Survival Tool" all over the blade too. Thats cool if you are actually in a hostile environment or in the wilderness, but if I pull a knife out for normal uses around here and it says that on in, I am afraid that I might look like the tool. I love the kydex too. The RC4 sheath is my favorite (the others are excellent too though, and I REALLY like the Izula sheath).

At any rate, you have sold at least one here.

What a great looking knife - looks like a perfect addition to any EDC/BOB bag!

Love how fishing line or snare wire can wrap around the screw like that - awesome!

I'm wondering how the prybar/scraper will lend itself to EDC carry - I can see it snagging on my clothes or poking me in the thigh when seated if mounted horizontally to the right of my belt buckle (where I usually carry)... Still seems like a great option to have as opposed to resorting to the blade to pry :)

Here I wait for my first RAT (an Izula) and can't help wanting the HEST as well ... the more I see it, the more I like it, even though the Izula looks better naked ...
 
The HEST knife is a great design but I would like to see the slabs be a bit different. Notice the modifications on the front & rear parts of the handle slabs.

the mod does look more in sync with the overall knife design.
 
I agree. Especially if it was a tapered at the end like on the RC-3/4 for a pinched or chest grip. :cool:
 
to be honest, I will probably cord wrap it anyway, however, the mod does make it look nicer T-K-C
