Production HEST photo

I'm curious, and maybe it's a dumb question, but: How will/does the wire cutter work?

I'm guessing it's the slot at the base of the blade...you probably place the wire in that notch and twist the knife. Things like barbed wire, chain link fencing are what they must mean.

The Becker BK11 has a similar notch on the butt of the handle.

The HEST knife is a great design but I would like to see the slabs be a bit different. Notice the modifications on the front & rear parts of the handle slabs.

Dale, we liked your idea so much that we are going to go with something very similar on the production models. We already have 25 of the original handles cut for the knives that will be at Blade Show. A few of these 25 promo pieces will be given away in our drawings at the show. The winners will have a unique piece since only 25 of them are being made. One of these will be coming to you since you had the idea to extend the handles and sex this knife up a bit. Also, we will probably give a few of these original handle HEST knives away here on BFs.

Thanks for the idea and for posting it up here!

One thing about RAT is we are always listening to our users, customers and dealers. We may not comment on every idea but it does go into the brain and gets rattled around :D

And there is allot of room in our heads for things to rattle around in :D

How exactly do you guys determine who gets to use the brain? Is it a time share thing, where Jeff has it for two weeks, then Mike, and so forth?

I was kind of "eh" about this when it was first announced and the early photos, but the more I see it, the better it looks. I still think the prying portion might be a pain (literally) and might get snagged on clothing, but I haven't carried one so I can't say for sure. Then again, it's nothing a dremel and a grinder can't fix:D

I hope there are going to be similar handles made available for the Izula also..

That's downright cool Jeff! Thanks!

This is a perfect example of why RAT is doing so well. Jeff & Mike know the importance of a team effort & are very willing to listen. I believe they feel that every dealer, customer & forum member are part of the RAT team (and we could say family).

Keep up the great work!

Now that is just too damn cool!!!!

I know this is probably common knowledge but what are the specs of the HEST? really cool looking blade:thumbup:

Jeff, any way to get this without the bottle opener or the choil notch? I get the idea, but it looks like a built-in stress point to me. Then again, you've a fair idea how retarded I can be with a knife.

I like the modded scales, and would likely sand that pinky hook right off.

Overall is 7 5/8" but I do not have just the blade length. Maybe someone else has that info.
