Profile cutting tools

It is bright, kinda like a cutting torch. I find the #5 shades that come with it perfect. Just ventilate the area you don't want to breath the smoke as it's vaperized metal. Here is the cutting speed of the 30xp, you will notice that it will actually cut 5/8". I saw a video where a guy got it to cut 3/4" plate but it was crazy slow. I find it perfect for the thickness we/I use as a bladesmith

As long as they're shade #5 or better you'll be ok as far as the flash protection. Whether you want to wear a face shield for protection from sparks is up to you. Really the only time you're going to throw sparks at yourself is when you pierce, so if you do an edge pierce you can almost eliminate that completely. Be more concerned about your footwear, since you tend to shoot all of the sparks down at your feet, wearing boots with laces can be problematic if you're not mindful about where you put your feet and point the torch.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback on the goggles/facemask/welding helmet info, and Kuraki, I wear slip on leather Skeechers ever since the hospital took my feet away from me, so I think they will do OK with sparks--the sparks from my grinders don't seem to be an issue--and obviously no laces!!

I have the the next size up from JT, and I love the thing. Makes you feel like Thor.

One thing to note is you should buy a desicator. It is in line from the air supply to the unit itself, it prevents moisture build up and gives you a longer life out of the machine. If any of you are in the LA area, let me know. Always happy to show off
