Proposed 2022 Bladeforums knife??

Im going to go out on a limb and say something that is not meant to be harsh or rude. How can someone think they could qualify for a knife with 10 post or less and created an account in the last 4 months.

As soon as I found out about the knife I told myself that maybe in 2 to 3 years if my commitment to this forum was at the level worthy of getting one, maybe I would qualify. I have seen these knives flipped for crazy money in numerous places. I guarantee you there were people that would of loved to have them for the right reasons.

Don't take it as an insult or even be disappointed. Im just going to put in my time and most importantly participate. Participation should not be made in order to get such perks. Participation should be made because you have a love for traditional knives and on the off chance you are in a position to purchase one so be it.

I have only been a member for like 4 months and at first was a little nervous to post anything but slowly but surely feel I am starting to build relationships with good people with a common interest. All I can say is dive right in. The water is warm and welcoming.

I originally posted a joke meme but felt I just wanted to speak my mind. If I am way off base I apologize.

Let's not go down that road again this year. There was a lot of ugliness last year, including a few members who decided that they could pass judgement on who deserved knives and made it a point to make people miserable over it.

The Blade Forums principals can make eligibility requirements, and in my view, it should be solely their responsibility and privilege to administer their rules. If they decide to make exceptions, then that is also their deal.

My first year here I wasn't eligible according to the Forum's criteria, but the good folks in charge let me buy a knife anyway. Anyone can check my posting history and see that I participate, and that I do it year 'round, not only during Forum Knife time. I suspect that many of the new folks would end up being regular contributors as did I.

There is so much talk about what the Porch means, let's prove that we're everything that we tell everyone we are.

I didnt want what I said to be construed as being aggresive or hostile. If It did I apologize. Just stating my thoughts.

I can also see where I may have steered the thread in a less than desirable direction. It was not my intention to do so.

Here we go again. All this nonsense about eligibility needs to go. It is meaningless and very tedious and a major downer in tone - being alternatively rude, sycophantic, angry and mean spirited.

Not attributes that appeal to anyone here.

Can all posts about eligibility be declared off topic and moved to whine and cheese?

I would suggest whoever wants one pays up front, and we order the exact amount that are paid for, one per customer. If someone decides to flip theirs then so be it, so long as the members who really wanted one got one.

one per customer?!

I enjoy this part of the forum knife process, where people start bickering about who is worthy, taking swipes at flippers, demanding that only one knife be allowed per peasant, then others warning them not to ruin the forum knife experience, then people say “let the pros handle it”, then someone says everyone should shut their yaps because it might jinx the whole deal.

it makes me feel young to re-live the experience each year, almost like visiting grandpas farm every fall.

Welcome to blade forums!

😉

You should decide on the # of knives, get the names of everyone who wants one and have the math professor 4Qs develop an algorithm to use your start date and # of trad forum posts to sort them. Easypeezy :) Math plus data gives truth :) Otherwise y'all gonnna embarrass yourselves again. Oh, also no "over runs" or 2nds sold to cronies, they get sold through the GEC factory store, proceeds going to a charity of GEC choice.

Feedback, Good Bad and Ugly would be more appropriate than Whine & Cheese.

I post this picture as testament to how something so exquisite can come to fruition when The Porch comes together.

The premise that we may have even a glimmer of opportunity for another year is really, really neat.

I miss the polls, voting, and banter, but am still excited for another Forum knife.
