Agree with your first para, no need for anybody to indulge their self-righteousness - which is usually a mask for something elseI am truly chuffed by the new developments. Now we won't have to have side-eyed folks wondering who the dreaded flippers were. There will be a simple list, and none of the rest of us need to do any hand-wringing.
But rather more important to me than the serial numbers is the handle news! I was just fine with the synthetic scale option. It would have been pattern appropriate. But I always prefer wood to plastic on a traditional (and usually even on a m*dern folder). And the ebony may have just shifted this knife from another forum knife that will hang out with the others in their tubes, to one that might see some real pocket time!
