Great news on the ebony handles, always a favorite material for me. This will be another fantastic forum knife. Thanks Charlie!

Hopefully the qualification rules would not be as harsh this year. Even though I am a forum member and had enough forum post by the time last years forum knife, I was not eligible as my posts in the traditional section was not sufficient. With all the respect, not posting frequently enough in traditional forms does not mean that I do not enjoy traditionals (see the picture below). And I do not think this rule does help with flippers. Hopefully, this rule would be re-considered in this years forum knife rules as it is pretty difficult to score a GEC knife if one is not living in the US. There are many handicaps for overseas buyers to score a GEC, whether it is a connection speed or a shop policy or something else...

edit: picture removed as it was in breach of the sub-forum rules. Apologies for that unintentional mistake.

Well well M murat1983 do you have a picture of a wabbit that you shot or skinned, or a funny joke to share? Or a traditional knife photo to post? You see, it’s actually very easy to ‘qualify’ for this club. Very easy. It just takes time and a little effort. You could term it ‘making a contribution’. But your argument seems to be, in essence, that no contribution should be required and that no standard should apply. Which seems a little brazen, especially considering you have had well over a year to mull over your decision as to whether you would meet the general eligibility criteria that applies to this knife by posting content in these forums.
But of course I don’t set the rules, it’s a forum thing

That rule was made so some random knife guy who isn't really into traditionals wouldn't get one by just stumbling upon the respective thread.

Amen though.

Perhaps you could find your way as far as the sub-forum guidelines, and read them. And in the meantime, perhaps you could remove that photo, which is in breach of them? Very easy to fit in here, just follow the simple rules, and be nice.

I understand your point. Someone who is not a flipper, a fan of traditional knives, enjoys reading here from time to time, and hasn't broken any rules might feel they are being harshly excluded if not allowed to purchase a forum knife.

The problem is if there are 500 made, and 700 people want them, it has to come down to either a mad scramble of first-come-first-served, or parameters must be set. That usually comes down to either time of membership, or amount of participation.

I don't want to be unwelcoming or elitist, but if 'club members' have to compete to get a 'club knife' it isn't really a club knife anymore and is just another GEC drop with our name on it.

I don’t think the rules were made for “random stumblers” Collectors/flippers are much more devious.

I have post a traditional knife photo a few times. I will work on the joke and skinned rabbit ;)

Apologies in advance if I was breaking a rule by posting photo of my collection. I never thought such action would break any rule in a knife forum. I will check the rules and delete the photo if it is indeed breaching a rule.

I always try to follow the rules and be nice. I do not think my post was not nice. Though I might unintentionally break a rule. I was just trying to show my interest in traditional knives and ask for more relaxed qualification rules this time.

I had my fingers crossed for black linen micarta, but ebony is even better!
Serialized is great touch. The only other serialized GEC I have is a 23 LL from 2008 my wife gave me after we got engaged.

Ok, I have checked the rules and apologies for the photo. My thought was that a picture with traditional knives in it would be fine. But it seems any "non traditional" knife should not be posted even if it is in the same photo with traditional knives. Please correct me if misinterpreted the rules.

The Bladeforums Knife isn't about making it easier to score a GEC knife for folks overseas, sorry. It's a knife for Bladeforums members in good standing and participation to enjoy.
