On these two I like them on the bark river jx6 I have I hate it. The bark river has really sharp edges and it rubs the side raw after a few hours. Both of these the tang was designed into the knife and the edges are clean and softened. But in bark rivers defense they charged a hefty price for that knife so it would have been to much to ask to get rid of the very sharp edges.

In summary if the tang does not bother the side I'ma take it or leave it person.

IMNSHO, this proud tang look came along with CNC tech.
Tight tolerances or not, there’s always going to be some variance in mass production.
A mismatch of scales and tang that can be felt comes off as a mistake.
More so one you can see.
The answer is to make that mismatch so large, so deliberate that the tiny variations disappear.

I 100% agree with you...
I'll also say that cnc also influences the designs in other horrible ways.

Is WhiteRiver barkriver?

Is WhiteRiver barkriver?
No, the bark river shall never be pictured it lives in shame. White rivers seem to be more consistent in all things including all 4 I've owned come with consistently bad grinds. One side is 20 degrees one is 25 degrees. Perfectly on all four.... they take... effort to fix. I probably won't buy another.

Just ignore the Lt wright being perfect at the bottom of the picture 😉

Oh...ok.my bad.
My reading comprehension is off. ....talking about knives NOT pictured.
* I'm my defense, BR has too many brands not properly associated with them.

I like them when it's done for the lanyard. Some are done better than others for sure. Busse does it well.

For the few knives I have with them, I like them 👍 So if I really like the knife design , I’d buy either way. Or one of each if it’s an option lol

Comparing tactical knives Gerber LHR and Gerber Silver Trident. I don't have the LHR, but it looks like the single guard with the proud tang, will not be a good support when thrusting and stabbing. Its relatively narrow surface and hard edges will not cushion the hand very well. The double guards of the Silver Trident serve this function much better. Especially if the handle is wet and slippery. You don't want to injure your hand when stabbing.
