I'm not sure where this should go but....

I wanted to let folks know, as it appears many do not....

When you pay a seller with PayPal and use the "gift/friends/family" option, it does NOT allow the seller to see your shipping information.....even though you have it registered in your PayPal account.

I understand folks might be attempting to do the seller a favor by avoiding fees but it adds an extra layer or two to the communication and causes shipping delays and/or extra trips to the post office.

So please be advised.

And anyone dealing with me personally, please use the "goods/services" option when purchasing things from me. I run a legit business and I'm not trying to avoid/circumvent the fees.

Thank you.

I would hope people are confirming addresses anyway. Some people don’t update their addresses right away when they move. Sending an extra message isn’t exactly back-breaking labor for me.

Asking to ship to an address that isn't the one listed in the PP account can cause issues as well. I try to always warn people to double check that they have the correct one associated w/ their account.

Concur, and I suspect most 'normal sellers' go the F&F route recently to not be taxed a second time for items they've already paid tax on.

I have been asked more than once by a Knifemaker(s) here to pay F&F, and other times G&S so its a bit of a mixed bag I guess.

Yep, screw the gov. Im not paying tax again on something I already did.
It’s surprising to me how many people not only willingly pay double taxes.. but criticize those that don’t as being “thieves”. I’m not a charity. They want it? Come get it.

I follow the Exchange rules. Meaning G&S.

Any number of means of payment are ACCEPTABLE.
That's between the two parties.
Bladeforums isn't directly involved.

I could accept chicken feet for payment on my services...... If I wanted to.

There is no forum rule that people use “g&s”.
Blues Blues . Here is what I mean:
  1. Be 100% sure that you want to sell the item, have it in your possession and clearly list the TOTALselling price.
    • There is no "testing the waters" or "gauge buyer interest".
    • "Net to me" needs to be figured into your LISTED PRICE
    • Insurance is the responsibility of the SELLER not the Buyer. This is for your protection.
    • Paypal "friends & family" is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. This is for your protection.

Please stay on topic. Political rants go elsewhere. Thank you. (This thread is about PayPal, not the IRS or .gov)

Strongly discouraging something isn’t a “rule”. If it was, there would be a lot of people posting up infractions and being banned for using f&f.

You can dial back the drama a bit. Nobody said anything about back breaking labor. The fact is, people often DON'T include their address when paying with F&F.

When I package and ship ten packages in a day and one paid F&F but didn't give me shipping info, it's an inconvenience for me when I'm geared up to do shipping and a PO run. If I have to message them and wait for a response, it causes me some headache and costs them at least another day or two of waiting.

If you're day is simpler than that....good for you.

Take your argumentative, eternally contrarian opinions on PayPal fees and taxes somewhere else. That's not the point of this thread and I couldn't care less about your opinions on that subject.

The point is IF you pay with F&F, the seller can't access your shipping info.
