Just wanted to give people a heads up so they don't get scammed. Seems like the new flavor in the China knife clones is the shirogorov 111 flipper.

What exactly is this thing that we're supposed to watch out for -- something you found on a site somewhere?

For ten bucks, it looks pretty good.
For $200, not so much.
If its a direct copy, that sucks at any price.

bedgoo,...The OP is trying to warn you, so you do NOT get scammed by a counterfeit knife.
My thanks to the OP.
This has been a popular blade out there; not too surprising that the Chinese have picked up on this one.

Wow. That's not even a good clone of the shirogorov 111. It has some flavor but not even close. Not to mention the 111 is liner lock.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Yeah, that's the D2 blade and Ti framed version I saw a while back...runs on bearings too. It's not going to fool anyone who knows anything about Shirogorovs, but I didn't think it looked bad for a $99 knife. I think "Shirogorov style" would be more accurate than "clone".

When the markup for a real Shiro is 2x what it actually costs in Russia, effectively tripling the price AND padding reseller pockets more than Shirogorov themselves, then I really can't knock a guy for buying stuff like the above posted knife...especially if they want to see if that's the style of knife they like before buying a real one.

I started with higher end clones to see if I like using that style of knife - then I plunked down the cash for a real Shiro when opportunity presented itself.

IMHO - Not all of these Chinese clones are a piece of crap, but anyone trying to pass one as the real thing most certainly is. :D

If it makes you feel any better, send a $10 bill to Shirogorov's shop as a royalty since you know the damn Chinese aren't doing any such thing.

We've met with this knife two months ago in Russia (with orange G10 scale as well). It is a bad clone, very very far from Shirogorov knives, feels like a piece of crap frankly speaking, right. I do hope noone on BF will mix it with the original 111.
Still even in Russia some people choose counterfeits - they are mistaken but think themselves very wise to buy Chineese maden fake knife for price up to 10 time lower then an original knife still usually quality is worse same degree so miracle cannot happen here. One who had experience with real Shirogorov knives won't buy a crap clone like that, and ones who buy such a fake will not buy a real Shirogorov as they cannot accept price like 700 USD for a knife.

Agreed 100%. The crappy clones aren't stealing any real Shirogorov customers. The nicer clones are probably on the level of Zero Tolerance - good production knife, but definitely not the real deal. :-)

I have been wondering this for a very while. What's the actual direct price for a shirogorov in Russia??

They start at $300 and go up to $450-$500 but thats all options included. An elmax mod 95 with bearings and carbon will be $350. If that doesn't make you sick, I don't know what will. And its probably cheaper now since the ruble went down in price compared to a dollar. Im Russian and ive looked on the Shirogorovs website a lot and those are the prices. But they dont ship to US, so you need to have a friend whis willing to get it and ship it fir you. Im trying to work something out but im not sure its gonna happen. Still beats paying 2 to 3 times as much.

I have friends in Russia who aren't into knives, and I know they'd do me a favor...the problem is, I think it's tough to get Shirogorov knives there too, if you're not a dealer.

I have bought a couple real Shiros and paid through the nose, and I will probably buy more of them over time, so I'm not going to feel bad for buying a clone every now and then. The cost of all the clones I've bought combined wouldn't buy me half a real shirogorov, and I feel I've paid my dues to Shirogorov and the knife-retailing industry. :p

^ This is the first clone I don't feel so bad about. Shiro, and their 'reseller' have taken everyone for one hell of a ride for a Russian production knife.

Guess it's worth what people are willing to pay...

Agreed. Shirogorov wannabes are the only "clones" I have. No desire to buy a clone of something I can get for $500 or so. Real Shirogorovs are apparently highly sought after by collectors, so it makes it impractical to buy one as a user for a lot of guys. Nobody collects Chinese wannabe versions, either - we buy them to use without worrying about resale value (like I wish I could do with the real thing).

*I should say, the ones I have aren't actual bootleg copies with logo and all. Just "very strongly inspired" with no brand name. I wouldn't buy a total bootleg copy because it tells me the manufacturer was willing to participate in people being duped, and I couldn't support that.

I have a feeling ZT is smart enough to start releasing more Sinkevich designs in the future - an affordable Shirogorov style knife with a warranty would be sweet, and I doubt that idea is lost on them.

"Just" $350 for a 95 with bearings and carbon fiber?! Way too overpriced then. I understand the dealers want to earn a bit of money and they might have to pay for shipping but asking $1000+ for a $300 might be a bit too much. Still want one so bad, so I guess I have to pay the $1000+...

Be patient.
Every year there seem to be a few knives that get a ton of hype and prices go through the roof....
Sometimes it takes supply a little longer to catch up with demand, especially in the case of Shiro's where distribution has been limited and some might argue, controlled.
Point is, prices are already starting to come down, and will continue to.

Hey guys. Chines start to do clones, but it still not a real Shiros. When you see it closer you can find some details which are different from genuine Shirogorov knives. But I've seen some of clone - even with bearing and made not so bad, even logo made very similar. But you can easy find the different. Have a look some examples of fake Shiros from China. You can find it easily on aliexpress.
