When the markup for a real Shiro is 2x what it actually costs in Russia, effectively tripling the price AND padding reseller pockets more than Shirogorov themselves
^ This is the first clone I don't feel so bad about. Shiro, and their 'reseller' have taken everyone for one hell of a ride for a Russian production knife.
Guess it's worth what people are willing to pay...
The Russian Ruble dropped almost 50 % in one year time, so these knives should cost about half the amount of last year![]()
Obviously nothing beats the original Shirogorov, but being this hard to find and overpriced by resellers, these clones are the closest substitutes to calm our itch.
Clones actually suck as bad as the people that promote them, maybe more.
Bullying? Calling someone out for what they choose to buy, legally. Coming from a MOD?! Wow. Well, I own quite a few genuine Shiros, and I own several "clones"?, "copies"?, "knives inspired by"? ...call them whatever you want. I buy both and enjoy both. I also have to say: a few of the clones/copies/knockoffs I have are just as smooth, just as fast, just as hearty and just as satisfying as the $800 to $1500 Shiros I've purchased and own and marvel at when compared side by side. Can you tell them apart if you know what you are looking at? Of course. But so what. The issue is about what you get for the money and what you buy certain knives for...use...collecting...or maybe both. --Maybe a SCRIM youtube video on this topic coming soon. It's just too interesting to ignore.-- There is unethical product and economic manipulation going on by manufacturers of both types of knives, and some dealers. This is an imperfect world, but thank God we have the freedom to make these buying choices. Calling someone out (a private individual, a fellow BF user, identifying them by re-quoting them) solely for buying a product that is legal for them to buy in the U.S., judging them, publicly no less, just feels creepy & wrong, especially when done by a MOD. Kind of like a cop, you are held to a higher standard. -- Gee, will I now get a demerit or account restriction for airing MY honest opinion as a consumer, smart shopper, collector & knife-maker supporter (US, South African, Chinese & Russian) and as a BF user/supporter? I guess time will tell.

Nothing misunderstood about it here...Also, "calling out" a mod the way you chose to may be misconstrued by other mods as trolling. I'd advise a little more caution in any future posts. You wouldn't want to be misunderstood or anything.
