Bryan Breeden PSK knife.

This is convex ground and very sharp. It just fits corner to corner in the Altoids tin.

Here are a couple I am working on. The 2 in the bottom are for the tin type PSK kits.
These will be the next in the Final Option Series for the The Final Option II,

Good luck with your project:). PSK knives really are a great addition to a kit. It can really save your pocket knife from the blood and guts if you are skinning any fish and game.

No offense to anyone that actually likes these things, but I have owned this thing and had it on my keys for ~8 years now and never used it once. I never consider it because it is never at the front of my thoughts when I am in need.

I am not sure I would actually like a knife in my PSK, but this folding thing is going in there as a result of seeing this thread and contemplating using this "knife" as a fire steel striker. The screw drivers and bottle opener look to be far more viable than actually using this thing to cut much, but I do not think I will have much appreciation about dulling it on my steel.

Hi scs.knives -

JK Knives makes these nice little knives - it will fit in an Altoids tin and I think the leather sheath is optional.

He calls this the Keychain Companion.

I will also submit for you that Stomper (JK Knives) will make any design you want for your psk - so if you draw it up, he will make it for you out of 01 tool steel!

Here is one I had made - it has a thumb-imprint with filed jimping that also works on a fire-steel. I had him drill holes for wrapping it with paracord etc.

I call it a "scan-duckie", but you can see, almost anything you could think of, Stomper can do for you.

here is the "pattern" I made and gave to Stomper -

And here is a shot of the finished product, alongside one of JK's Kitchen knives:

I keep a SAK Famers in my tin PSK

Yeah I'm wondering if the tin knife thing is more of a fad. A folding knife is just as compact but gives you more useability. The only reason to go with a fixed blade IMO is if you're going to baton or pry. Something you really can't do with these small blades.

My fingers have sometimes been so cold when trying to get a fire going that I doubt if I would have been able to open a folding knife !

I love the look of that larger knife at the top Bryan, what is that one called ?

I can see that but if your hands are that cold can you really operate such a small knife? An easy open slippy or something like a spyderco would be much easier than a farmer to open as well.

Tin knives probably are just a fad, but an easy open slippy can also be an "easy fold closed on your fingers slippy" too. Besides, who here is not into the latest fads. :D

Here`s mine.

If a small fixed blade for a psk is a possible fad
I am all for it:D. I personaly have made only a few hundred
since I have been making knives. and the orders are still
comming in.
If you need to cut string, skin fish and game, cut tape,
clean yoru finger nails, carve up fuzz sticks, strike your
firesteel, and just about any other chore that requires
cutting these little knives are great for it.
Ask Scott Gossman, John of Jk knives, Turley knives,
Mark that Pit dog mentions and varies other production
companies and I think you will see that these little knives
are more than just a fad.

They are a great addition to one Personal Survival Kit.

Here is the first PSK knife I made up after reading the Book
Six ways in and twelves out by George Jasper the main guy
at the United Stated and Rescue and Special Operations Group.
In his book he has several survival kits and talks about there
contents.
Instead of having a razor blade a small fixed blade knife seems
to me anyways seems like a much better cutting tool. George Jasper
thought so too. I am thinking that if one of the leading survival instructors
thinks they are a great item to put into a psk, then chances are it is:D

Skinning a wild turkey with a PSK knife is a breeze,
and the clean up of my psk knife is so much faster than
with any of my pocket knives will ever be.

Fad... I just do not see that.

Take care all,

Bryan

I know Iz Turley had to stop making them for now as that was all he was getting done, and wasn't going to be able to keep up with his other orders.

I know my psk is quite handy for everyday use, so much so that I made a small neck sheath for and wear it daily.
