Been hopping like a kangaroo for the last two days every time a truck goes by hopeing it was the UPS guy. he just droped of my F-1 and i've got to say its a beauty. top quality leather flap sheath. wicked sharp satin blade. top end high quality all around. looks like a keeper. cant wait to get it outdoors and put it to work:thumbup:
I did it to...should be here next tues. I'm hopeing it's the right size for edc. I will carry it in a edc bag most of the time and on my belt or in a pack when I'm in the woods.
I think you'll be happy with your F1, Top quality knife all the way.haven't had it out side yet but it has gotten a good work out in the kitchen, meat and veggies are light work while the knife is fairly compact the flap sheath makes it to bulky to EDC in a pocket unless you have large cargo pockets but a small fanny type pack would work just fine.
How do you like the leather sheath? I ordered the zytel sheath...not sure I'll like it though. I'm very fussy about sheaths...I may make one or buy an aftermarket sheath. Anyway, can't wait to try it out. I've wanted one for a long time.
Fallkniven did a very good job with the sheaths the quality matches the knife I dont know how to guage leather but what can say is that the only other knives i own where the thickness of the leather, qulity, fit and finish, and over all good looks are the Sullivan sheaths made for my Randalls
The above micarta handled knife sells for $170 on Greg's site. I can't justify paying almost $225 on other sites for the same knife with a nickel bolster. You can make one yourself by buying a blank for about $80 and micarta, bolts and lanyard tubing for about $30. If you are good with a belt grinder and dremel, you are all set!
Micarta can be very bad for you if the dust gets into the lungs. For the trouble and extra required equipment, the extra money for the knife is worth it.
Troop, You've just shown me my next knife project! I'm definitely going to have to get an F1 blade and put some micarta slabs on it...maybe some green canvas ones!
Update: Just ordered my F1 blade and the handle makings...thanks again for the inspiration, Troop!
