Pulling Trigger On First Emerson Tonight. Help Me Out.

Over the years I've tried the Emerson thing and it never stuck. I've had older versions of the Commander, Mini-Commander, CQC-8, CQC-7 and an A100. None of them ever really did it for me for some reason. They were all nice knives but I did catch and release with them. Yesterday my mini CQC-15 came and love it (I'll preface that with "so-far" knowing my past). I would like to get a large version of the 15, so that is what I would recommend. I think next to the Commander, it has the baddest grind in a fully useful blade.

I'd say either a variant of commander or a variant of a 7 for your first.

I've carried and used a Persian by the by and it is more than just looks (it cuts too);)

Regular Roadhouse is looking pretty bad ass. Will I be slippin' if I don't go super?

Hell no, the "regular" Roadhouse is a bad mofo. One of my quintessential, favorite Emersons. The grip is awesome, especially in reverse grip, and the blade is cool, functional, and easily maintained. There are a lot of very knowledgeable Emerson aficionados that love the Roadhouse above all other models.

Opinions on Journeyman vs Super Commander or Roadhouse/Super Roadhouse?
Jazub, I own/use both a Journeyman and a Super Commander that have combo edges.
I absolutely love the large size and badassery (is that even a word?) of the SC. However, I find the Journeyman to be more suitable for edc than the SC. I guess you just need to figure out how you plan to use the knife. They are both workhorses and you can't go wrong with either of them!

Regular Roadhouse would be a great first Emerson, you won't be "slippin." However, the Super Roadhouse is on the discontinued list, so they may become hard to find. I've been thinking about a super for awhile myself.

Regular Roadhouse or regular Commander.
CQC7 as back-up. Trust me.

Got to trust Lycosa :D

Went with the Regular Roadhouse and I am pumped to receive this thing. I had been almost positive about the Super Commander but the Roadhouse just looks so rad. Thanks for all of the suggestions, gentlemen, I'll update with pictures when it arrives.:thumbup:

I have owned both, you DEFINITELY made the right choice IMHO.

Lycosa was spot-on. I carry a mini Roadhouse and a 7 most days. Did you order the 7 as a backup?

I wish I had that kind of dough to order a backup but no. Just the Roadhouse for now. I selected satin pe but the combo edge was a very close second. It is supposed to arrive on Friday and I can't wait.

I am overwhelmed...
:D

haha :D

One more bit o' advice. Never sell an Emerson knife. You'll just get another.
Pix, when she drops.

This x1000. I got my first Emerson about 20 months ago. Traded it off, ended up getting rid of everything else for more Emersons. To be honest, Emerson is all that I have bought in those past 20 months.

I can already tell it is going nowhere. Something just clicked and I am digging the Emersons. I see that the factory is right around the corner from my pops' house. Maybe I can check it out when I head down to LBC in November.
