Punch out! Give it your awl.

Used the awl on my Pioneer to make a couple of holes in the "sheath" I discovered in the webbing of an old ball glove. I put some leather lacing through the holes to make a loop that I could put through a belt loop, then drop the sheath through the loop (to make a "cow hitch" or "lark head" knot) and turned it into a "Buckaroo sheath" before I even knew there was such a thing.

I love the awls on vintage SAKs. The leftmost is from 1946-51, the other two are 1952-57.

I agree, the look of the vintage owl is really cool. I just wich it was attached in the back like on the Alox instead. Nice little family pic :)

There's two threads with HJ's, and another Thread with Scout / Utility Knives, but there is still a gap for the Stockmans tha Have a Punch - and Lobsters- so a Great Thread!

Nice Photo's everyone!

Here is a Schrade Walden in absolute Mint condition- hard to get one like this, a wonderfully built knife in every way!, the Awl on these are Heavy Duty! I tend to call the Punch / Awl tool on these types and Awl- and we can see the differences when comparing to the Punches!

Was fishing last week and took a picture of using the awl on a ALOX SAK to drill a tiny hole in a Fishbite - these make good saltwater baits that are fairly crab resistant (much more than shrimp or cut mullet). If I wasn't using my right hand to take the picture it would be holding the Fishbite. OH

20230501_192520~2_resize_39.jpg Few more vintage punches. I suppose the two in the middle might be classed as awls rather than punches. Clockwise from top: Another Camillus Engineers knife -- this time with the other side of the punch showing. A Kaufmann K55K utility, an Ulster Knife Co. official Scout knife, and a vintage Thiers Issard utility-type knife with domed pivot pins.
