Punctured elbow with a Matriarch 2. Just a reminder to be safe and stay aware when "fidgeting"! Maintain awareness. Have you ever got a silly cut?

Whoa, glad you got out with your pinky intact! Man, this is the thing that makes me think... most kids do get lucky under this "Give them a slipjoint to teach them respect for the knife" line of thinking and only get a little bite, but something big enough and sharp enough could take a digit. Maybe a fixed blade is the best starting knife? I don't rightly know myself.
I think some kids are smart enough to understand the dangers, and the rest of us have to learn the hard way. I never, ever did anything stupid with a knife again after that. I say, give them a little pocket folder, like a SAK, impart all the knowledge, wisdom and warnings you can (in my case I can show them one nice old scar as well), the rest is up to them to figure out.

Yeah, fair enough - suppose it's up to every parent to determine the best choice for their kid.

Having worked with tools for many years normally don't have a problem with knives, but got "ambushed" by a new Cold Steel recon folder with a strong spring that basically snapped shut on a finger. Wasn't too bad just wasn't expecting it to close with such force.

How? Like, from dropping them downwards onto you? I'm just wondering what you were doing to make this happen, haha.

Glad you're being safer though, don't do seppuku to make your YouTube reviews go above and beyond 😁

Lying on my bed, and tried a reverse opening like a ninja. Almost punctured myself and got the shivers everywhere in my body. Started fidgeting again like 2 mn after. Ended up going all bed ninja again and flipped it too near of my belly again. Thought it was enough fidgeting for the night. Never opened the Exo again after that.

i put a nice nice hole in my thigh at work once by not paying attention to what i was doing & using the wrong knife for the job. i work in a school kitchen & usually carry something small for most stuff (because school) & a larger knife out of sight on my belt for bigger jobs. was breaking down boxes with a benchmade 490. it was a heavier duty box that peaches & plums & such get shipped in. i had it braced against my leg for leverage & the blade popes outta the box & into my upper thigh. slid right in with minimal bleeding, coulda been much worse tho. an inch or do one way & it would have hit my femoral artery, a couple inches the other direction and i would have sliced into something even worse. really reinforced the importance of situational awareness, using the proper tool for the job at hand, & not doing stupid stuff like cutting towards your crotch with a razor sharp blade. my boss still gives me crap about it, which i completely deserve

Tried a reverse flick with a new unbroken-in and unfamiliar Demko AD 20.5 knife the other day - got very lucky. The bandaid is already off...

About once every couple weeks I get those cuts, where you slice skin and the reflexes cut in to stop just before blood is drawn. I handle knives a lot on any given day: work, yard work, cooking, and recreation, but very rarely cut myself. Last winter I was up north, with a new Boker Plus PryMini Pro carried scout style on my belt under a heavy jacket. I was pulling the knife out, while gripping the Kydex sheath, and the edge snicked me because it comes out of the sheath before the end of the sheath. It got me pretty good and if I hadn't been in a hurry to travel back home I would have stopped by a clinic to get a couple stitches, instead of just popping on a butterfly bandage. That was the first time I cut myself like that and I'm little more mindful about unsheathing unfamiliar knives now (especially when they're underneath a jacket where you can't see what you're doing). Later, online I came across a bunch of reviews from people who really liked the knife but cut themselves the first time they took it out of the sheath.

Once on my finger with a slipjoint, was poking at something, I think a piece of wood with the tip, pushed too hard, knife closed and bit me.

Second time was on my chin. Spyderco Navaja. Long story, I was being a retard is the important thing.

Still have the scars from both of those. Only needed to learn each lesson once.

Ok - cuts and scratches are going to happen.
When they do, you just parlay them into getting sympathy sex & getting out of doing stuff you don't like doing.

(Hell's bells, I even go all seppuku myself when my wife plans a family event with her side of the family & slice and dice my body!
That's been working for the 41 years we've been married!)

Sympathy!? Ha!

Stepped on an oyster than ran up about an inch into my foot. Went to work the next day changing my socks and bandages every 3 hours. Gimped around all day, cleaning that thing out when I got home with alcohol every evening.

Picture doesn't look like much but it was deep. Probably should have got this one a stitch, but I hate over paying doctors.

All for fun guys, I'm just playing around. Definitely go to the doctor if you think you need too. 👍
