I don't know if this is going to work. It's an experiment.... Bladeforums has a policy against personal attacks, and we particularly dislike racist slurs. Standard procedure would be to warn him once and then ban him if he does it again.
But ... the different forums in Bladeforums are somewhat different communities with somewhat different community standards. TGBU is more controversial than most of the forums, unavoidably so because of the topic, and the discussion often gets heated ... I try to allow the members a little slack considering they're often posting under the influence of strong emotions.... Harikari has gone well beyond the standards even for TGBU, and yet ... his flames are so childish and idiotic I think most of the members find them amusing rather than offensive, and the only real problem is he's been cluttering up serious threads with a lot of nonsense.
My idea is to let him display his childishness in this thread if he wants to continue. Anyone who doesn't find it amusing won't have to read it, and those who do find it entertaining can be entertained, try to educate him, try to egg him on to provide even more amusement, even display their own idiocy if they have any to display and want to display it. I don't know if it's going to work, but maybe it will; maybe it'll become a tradition on TGBU that every time a troll or a genuine mental defective comes along we'll create a special thread for him -- maybe by this time next year we'll be on "Pure Entertainment Volume 20."
Or maybe it won't work. This forum is run by the members and maybe the members will decide we don't want this kind of stuff even in a separate thread of its own. Maybe Mike will decide he doesn't want it on his website. Maybe I'll find the trolls and idiots keep on posting in serious threads and it's too much of a nuisance for me to keep deleting their posts and explaining over and over again they aren't allowed to post personal attacks anywhere except in the special entertainment thread.
Let's give it a try, huh? I think Harikari is a good subject to try the experiment with because his flames are
so lame surely even the less easily amused among us can't take them seriously -- can any adult be offended by
name jokes??? Allowing him to post his racist slurs here isn't promulgating racism; it's showing the world what idiots racists are. Practice up on him and maybe when a less obvious dork comes along you'll see the entertainment in him, too.
