Sounds like a great trip!Birthday month for a lot of us in the sub. Me, Mrs. Redmeadow, Dennis, Scott, Mack, Chris, John, JB, who else?
We try to go on a trip sometime in the month of May every year to celebrate. Going to the Rocky Mountain Leather show in Sheridan, WY and then to Devils Tower, Deadwood, Custer Battlefield.
Thanks Dave, hittin 48 years young this month. Lookin forward to Sheridan, the leather show made for a good excuse for a road trip. The kids are excited, they love everything Wild West/Pioneer and can't wait to see a shootout in Deadwood.Happy Bday everyone!

That's awesome man! Cool storyThanks Dave, hittin 48 years young this month. Lookin forward to Sheridan, the leather show made for a good excuse for a road trip. The kids are excited, they love everything Wild West/Pioneer and can't wait to see a shootout in Deadwood.
Speakin of pioneer stuff, we don't watch a lot of tv but the kids love that Gold Rush show. They really want to pan for gold so I cut up some shot shells and hammered up some 7 1/2 shot, 00 Buck and a 1oz slug, painted them yellow (didn't have any birdshot, I have a soft spot for winged crittters). Filled up two buckets with dirt and rock and sprinkled it throughout. It's heavy enoigh to pan just like gold and they're having a blast.
We made a deal beforehand, I told them since I've gotta use the tractor to mine and haul their paydirt, supply the pans, and water supply I'll do it for a percentage of their profit. they negotiated me down to 25%. It was fun to watch a 7 & 9 yr olds wheels turn to work up a deal, Momma coached them while I played the hard sell.
I put 15 ounces between two buckets and said I'd give them $2 for every ounce they found. They don't know how much is in there. They set a goal yesterday that they wouldn't stop until they hit 4 ounces, luckily they hit it before dark. They're getting good at working a pan, it's pretty impressive to watch.
After painting everything yellow they made for some good gold nuggets.

It is indeed a great story I luv it. Our ranch was mined during the California Gold Rush. Still have areas with debris mounds from the long toms. The wife’s 50 this month. Top secret big doings going on.Thanks Dave, hittin 48 years young this month. Lookin forward to Sheridan, the leather show made for a good excuse for a road trip.
