How those claws feel?Good to see you Dylan. I'm partial to my Stetson crushable but I'd love to get a nice custom hat. I do like that the crushables are soft enough to get bumped without pushing the hat off your head, heck you could crawl under and change your oil in one of them. I've had this one for 15 years, (shoulder fired cat sold separately).

Not sure what Oregon has to offer but I watch one in Texas on Instagram and tell myself I'll get one someday.
Ha, rough on the initial leap! Never liked cats until I had one that thought he was a dog, he was a great shop cat. Lost him years back and haven't found one that's as good. The one pictured is his cousin and she's a pretty good cat but she's no Earl. How those claws feel?![]()
Only picture of Earl I could find. I have one of him sitting on my head somewhere. Whenever I was at the workbench he'd sit and watch me for hours, once he jumped on my head to get a better view. Didn't matter what I was doing he would sit patiently and watch every move.

We have one cat that stays in the house, it's a tortoise(?) color and I'm it's favorite for some damn reason. My wife and daughter feed and take care of it but it sleeps at my feet. I pick up every cat by the nape of their neck so maybe they think I'm their mother lol.A tuxedo cat! I should’ve known. I had one that was like that when I was growing up. Tuxedos can get so affectionate. Ours was named Shadow because he would follow us around like a Shadow. My mom rescued him during a rainstorm from under a trailer in Detroit. One time I saw him jump off our front steps and snag a sparrow out of the air. Fricking crazy.
Yeah, looks like you treat it real bad............We have one cat that stays in the house, it's a tortoise(?) color and I'm it's favorite for some damn reason. How about an Australian hat for sin and rain?

I do have a (rather battered) oilskin hat that I used to wear on my hikes a number of years ago. I think it was marketed as some sort of Outback hat when I got it - it even has a wire rim so you can shape the brim to your liking. Unfortunately, it is one of the hottest and most uncomfortable hats I've owned. I'm sure an Australian styled hat of a higher quality would be quite fine.
I am cursed with a rather large (possibly weirdly shaped) head. Though I have worn Stetson and Pendleton crushable hats for years, they have never been perfect fits. The XL is too small and the XXL is too big, the crowns are too shallow, and the brims are narrow in proportion to my big noggin. Since most off-the-rack hats are of the modern country western sort or of the hipster fedora type (neither of which are quite my style) and I can't achieve a good fit usually, I am resigned to go the custom route.
I am thinking it will be a lifetime hat though - the prices are jaw dropping. You can pay up to or in excess of 3k for a hat - I have no interest in that but if I can keep it south of a grand, I think I'll be happy. I have an appointment with Gene Baldwin tomorrow - he resides just outside of Sisters (a really cool Old West town, albeit very touristy) and he will get me measured up and hear me out on my ideas for a hat.
He made a hat for Nate Hilts from The Dead South (pictured second from right) and that is sort of the direction I am leaning, although my wife has some (different) input as well. It will be interesting to see what we all come up with.

Good Morning John..,
Good Morning Fellers...
While travelling through Montana, we found:
Jimmy at Double H Hat Company, Darby Montana...
Even though we are from Alberta, he said why not get fitted, jic I want a hat down the road...
he brought out his tools to measure my weird shaped skull!!
Well, later on down the road, my wife at the time, ordered me a damn nice hat for our 10th anniversary...
What really impressed me were his pictures of a really worn out looking actual cowboy hat, and then pictures of the same hat, reworked by Jimmy, to brand new shape...
Ill try find a pic...
Have a good day all y'all...
Randy, aka Sixx
PS of course I can't find a pic...
I'm still recovering from the damn Covid...
Also, I hope I'm not stepping on toes...
But, damn that Jimmy can make a hat!!
I'm in the same boat, I have a huge cranium- 7 3/4 Long Oval is close. Nothing fits my bean.
(me and Dylan hanging out)You got me beat - but just by a wee bit. Just was officially taped at 7 5/8.

Thats just so totally cool!Proud moments of Dadhood:
My boy saw a paint tray at the store the other day and decided it would make a good sluice box for his gold mine. Told Mom he needed to make 2 dollars to buy it (he already has money he's earned but wanted to earn more to buy it, awesome). She offered to buy it but he refused. Spent two days doing extra chores. Took his money next time they went in town, took the tray to the counter and paid for it by himself. This was all unbeknownst to me until he brought it home. I was a mess at his age, couldn't be prouder of him.
He had the plan all figured out and asked if I'd drill some holes in the bottom so the dirt would flow out. He said the deep part would trap the gold and everything else would wash out. For a 7 year old this was a pretty good plan but I had my doubts. He got it all set up but I'll be damned if it didn't work out perfect. He dumps the trap after he runs the dirt and pans it out. The picture below is after running probably a quarter of one of the 5 gallon buckets I loaded up with "gold".

They've panned 9.58 ounces of gold so far. It'll be interesting to see how much they get of the 14.9 ounces that I put in there.
