As far as I know, it's gonna be tip up like "most" other Axis models, and I say "most" since I've got a pre-pro 720 with tip up or tip down capability. I think, however, they've made all Axis models tip-up for the new line.

How 'bout that D2 blade steel?

Unfortunately with the clip mounted to the front of the knife, the axis release button is obstructed. The axis lock snaps the blade closed very well so tip up carry is not as much of a problem as in other lock designs.
 
On the other hand, designed properly, the pocket clip could actually be made to partially protect the axis lock studs thus helping to prevent the accidental lock releases that certain prominent persons feel may be the downfall of this system.
 
I'd rather the handle were made of something, ANYTHING other than G10. I just don't much care for that stuff.

Anyone know if they are going to keep the option of an uncoated blade? Someone on the Benchmade forum said they were only going to be produced with BT2. Yuck! :barf:

Please let me have a satin finish.
 
I believe that all of the M2 blades BM offers come coated, so it may well be the same with the D2 blades.

Come to think of it, since they already use M2 in other blades, it seems kind of strange that they would go to D2 on this one. M2 is both tougher (marginally) and more wear resistant (significantly) than D2. D2's only real advantage over M2 is that it's more corrosion resistant, but with the blades being coated, that advantage pretty much disappears. Hmm. :confused:
 
I guess what I cant figure is how come they list it on the site as a satin finish if they are going to use BT2. (*BT2 will be represented by :barf: for the rest of this post) Maybe they are going to use D2 so they dont have to use :barf: A lot of us have been asking for an uncoated M2 version. Maybe this is the answer? I hope so. I really do not like :barf: I dislike it enough that I may not buy one if they only come with :barf:
