puyallupn8ive stated that he would take my waki and sheath which I agreed to, at below direct prices on both the sheath and the blade. He asked that I wait 1.5 weeks for payment, I said that was fine. After two weeks I had not been paid and I asked him what the deal was.

He said "I didn't get my paycheck on time" and stated he would pay me in the "next few days."

After three weeks still had not heard from him. Attempted both PM and email communications with him. Had two individuals say they would purchase the blade during the time I was holding it for puyallupn8ive, but told them they would unfortunately have to be backup because I was a man of my word and told puyallupn8ive I would hold the blade for him.

It's been over a month and I still have not heard from puyallupn8ive regarding the transaction, nor have I recieved payment. In the meantime, both buyers who were going to purchase my waki/sheath combo found another while they were waiting.

I will not do business with him again. I understand that things happen and sometimes you have to back out of a knife purchase, but the absolute lack of communication is rude, and the fact that I could have sold this twice over since he decided he wasn't going to tell me he wanted to back out is infuriating.

I have had this happen to me a few times. I take a mental note and move on.

Yep, except I'd like to share my mental note. puyallupn8ive's feedback seems a bit tarnished already before I did my deal with him (or tried to). Probably should have paid attention to that.

He has had some issues, unfortunately. He had a reasonable # of positive feedback trades prior, though.

At least you're the seller & not out anything, but having lost a possible sale (Twice) sucks. I've noticed some people list in their F/S thread that they'll wait for 24 hrs (Or a certain amount of time) before moving on to the next Buyer. It's unfortunate to do that, but I'm guessing it's because of instances like this.

I hope you sell it soon.

Yeah, if he wanted it that bad, he would have kept up with you. I have learned that with sales on forums, cash on the barrelhead, as you can lose a deal. I don't ask to buy unless I have the funds. You were more than patient with him, so don't feel like you did anything bad, other than maybe lose other buyers, but you were honest with them. Hope you get the price you were wanting.

When he asked if you would wait after two weeks, you should have given him a time limit like 48 hours or one week, and that was that. If you had backup offers at that time, you could have told him, no thanks, I need the sale now, and gone with the backup buyer.

It's tough on the man who wants to buy but doesn't have the money, but frankly, if he's hand-to-mouth for the check, he shouldn't be buying anyway.

Exactly.

thank you all for the advice. I am still relatively new to the world of these high end blades and have made many mistakes along the way learning the ropes -- I'll chalk this one up as another, and learn from it. :)

I sure hope I can sell it. Selling a waki + steelnut sheath for 425 shipped...pretty solid deal imo.

That sucks. Ive sold to him at least 3 separate times and he always came through. Hope he is all right.

And you shouldnt have a problem selling that thing man. Thats one helluva good deal. Id buy it if I had extra funds.

just relist it, send an email and he'll figure it out.

if the payment comes before another buyer takes it, he gets it. if not, oh well.

Thanks, it's been relisted.

@ Mori: I've emailed him several times and not heard back. The only way he'd get it now is if he paid the original price we agreed on, which is higher than the one day price I've listed today.
