Just to get it out of the way-
Obviously I don't post that much on this forum and am fairly new, however I have bought/traded/and sold many knives and and have had always good transactions whether it be from a dealer or individual.

That being said I do feel an obligation to share my disappointing experience with PVK Vegas.
I put a $50 deposit layaway on a PVK exclusive M390 DLC Stonewash Single Edge UTX-85 (which is amazing) about three months ago.
I specifically requested Serial #8 both on my payment, and followed up on the phone and talked to Josh which he confirmed with me. Fast-forward to when I called Josh again three weeks ago from the time I am writing this, I pay for the full amount of the UTX-85 and in about a couple of days it arrives. Nothing wrong with the knife, however the serial number is #18 not #8. Obviously not a huge mistake, but somewhat irked me as I had been pretty communicative about getting a low serial #, specifically 8. I give Josh a call, which it seemed that he was on lunch and not currently in the store. So I asked him if it would be easier to shoot him an email with my order number to get the issue resolved. I send him an email on November 2nd, and have yet to get a response. This was to be a birthday gift to a close friend of mine and not having the right number (long story short 8 is a special number to him) made shipping it back and getting the right one out of question.

Anyways ways its been almost 3 weeks and I have not received a response. Josh seemed like a pleasant gentleman to talk to on the phone at all times so it's kind of a bummer that this happened.

PVK is related to another online dealer that I've dealt with in the context of layaway. There was a knife I picked, put it on layaway, but a week or two later he told me he had sold it by accident and didn't have the knife I wanted. Obviously this irritated me but what can I do? He offered to refund the money, but I kept the money with him and ultimately turned around and got another knife I am very happy with.

Bottom line is these layaway sales, on the smaller single-owner shops, I think it be a real pain. I've had some great layaway results with monkey edge, but I think that guy has a staff of people working for him. Some of the places like knife center or Blade HQ obviously have a very large staff and layaways are no issue whatsoever.

Also I think these guys don't work weekends, maybe they don't work nights, so emails could go unanswered for an entire weekend and I'd hear from the guy Monday morning. That part I really don't understand, I get my work emails on my phone, I can see them the moment they're sent, so there's no real excuse for not answering an email over the weekend.

I believe PVK works constantly. He's a one man show and can't keep up. But even others who also get emails 24/7 are involved in something called life. Sure, they want to stay on top of customer needs, but family? downtime? relaxation? Anyone who is always "on" will end up like PVK, always in over his head.

Well at least as it relates to MY experience I was pleased with the layaway transaction...

Clayton at Eknives even reached out to the gentleman at PVK in order to resolve the layaway issue. Stand up guy.

Update, emailed PVK again, got a prompt reply from someone other than Josh, saying that he would talk to the manager to take care of me. I explained the whole situation again, and what I got was this; "Sorry for the inconvenience sir." I'll leave it at that. Probably will not do business with again, a shame as they have a great selection of Autos and whatnot.

I can think of many reasons not to answer a work email sent over a weekend. The primary one is that it was sent over a weekend.

I work lots of weekends, working tomorrow in fact but I wouldn't expect any business to reply to an email on a Saturday or. Sunday. The idea that every business is supposed to be on the clock 24/7 and responding to every email they get over a weekend is just stupid.

Why hello John, although I would have appreciated your response via email/phone call, I do want to clarify that the issue was not just that you took more than a month to reply. The issue was that you sold me the wrong product, I gave you a call, sent you an email to follow up and never heard back from you personally until now. However thank you for replying. A one sentence apology email was not really amusing to me.

JohnWE is NOT, I repeat "NOT" the owner of PVK. Get your story straight folks before trying to crap on someone. Saves you from looking like a fool. John was making a comment regarding working weekends, which I myself worked every Saturday for almost 5 years straight. Working weekends, that was all the comment was about.

I don't even know what PVK is...although I'll defend their right to not send emails on a weekend...;^)

Sent while sitting on a television commercial set where I've spent the last 12 hours with no real end in sight. Luckily I have a pretty actress to look at while reading the forums...

Facepalm - I do apologize, was under the impression that you were Josh at PVK, and took your comment out of context. Did not mean to come across as rude, again I am sorry.

Anybody dealt with them lately? I've emailed and tried to call a couple of times this week...no emails or phone calls answered. He has several models in stock online that nobody else does, but I had some questions I wanted answered before ordering.

Update: Order placed early last Friday morning...as of late Tuesday, order is still "processing"...all phone calls, text messages and emails have gone unanswered until late Tues. Payment was deducted from me on Saturday; Their answer was it should have been shipped already, I paid for 3 day Priority, they will look into it bc it hasn't shipped.

When you are selling blades into the thousand$ of dollar$ and operate a website for sales...this is not acceptable to me...not in this day and age...sorry. Their website makes no mention of processing and handling time either...at least let people know...simple business practice.

We will see how this plays out...
