PVK Vegas buying experience, somewhat dissapointing?

Update: Order placed early last Friday morning...as of late Tuesday, order is still "processing"...all phone calls, text messages and emails have gone unanswered until late Tues. Payment was deducted from me on Saturday; Their answer was it should have been shipped already, I paid for 3 day Priority, they will look into it bc it hasn't shipped.

When you are selling blades into the thousand$ of dollar$ and operate a website for sales...this is not acceptable to me...not in this day and age...sorry. Their website makes no mention of processing and handling time either...at least let people know...simple business practice.

We will see how this plays out...

yep agree. i like pvk but their refusal to answer emails and phone calls is just plain stupid from a business standpoint. no better way to say it....sorry Josh.

jb...Josh personally called me late Wed. to discuss the issue. Apparently they just opened up a new store and had issues while doing the move and my order got delayed. It was shipped last night and he apologized for the delay etc...still was just short of a week to get it shipped. He seemed nice enough on the phone so it's just one of those things I guess

i placed an order with pvk on tuesday and it promptly arrived in mint condition yesterday. i wouldn't hesitate to order again and will.

PVK is related to another online dealer that I've dealt with in the context of layaway. There was a knife I picked, put it on layaway, but a week or two later he told me he had sold it by accident and didn't have the knife I wanted. Obviously this irritated me but what can I do? He offered to refund the money, but I kept the money with him and ultimately turned around and got another knife I am very happy with.

Bottom line is these layaway sales, on the smaller single-owner shops, I think it be a real pain. I've had some great layaway results with monkey edge, but I think that guy has a staff of people working for him. Some of the places like knife center or Blade HQ obviously have a very large staff and layaways are no issue whatsoever.

Also I think these guys don't work weekends, maybe they don't work nights, so emails could go unanswered for an entire weekend and I'd hear from the guy Monday morning. That part I really don't understand, I get my work emails on my phone, I can see them the moment they're sent, so there's no real excuse for not answering an email over the weekend.

I realize this is a really old post, but wanted to respond to the last paragraph. Although I'm with you and we all know that everyone usually has their cell phone with them, people have the right to separate work and personal life. Normally, those who have more of an interest in the success of the business, like the owner, will be the type to be on call 24/7 but it's not a healthy practice if you think about it. Younger, ambitious people usually have unlimited energy so being available at all times is a small price to pay in return for a potential promotion, increased sales, etc. But as you get older and the need for balance becomes more of a necessity, setting boundaries helps. Especially because there should be a system in place, whether that be technology or manual, so that you don't lose customers while also being able to give yourself or employees a certain quality of life.

I'm not defending PVK but I will say that I have done many deals with them and haven't been let down.

The best way to handle anything in life is to act as if everyone is super busy and will never remember anything. It doesn't matter what notes they wrote for themselves or that you called in and requeseted this or that. If something is important to you, your job is to follow up every 24 hours forever until it's done. And if you're not willing to do that, you didn't want it bad enough. Yes you still have the right to complain, but my advice isn't about complaints because if you want to be successful and happy in life, relying on others for things that you really care a lot about, is just naive. Everyone's busy and you can't control things that happen to other people.

When you follow up with people every 24 hours, people are of course going to get annoyed with you, but does that really matter? And is someone going to get annoyed with you when you're just trying to buy something from them? In reality, you're actually helping them.
