Quality knife, easier to damage?

What you mentioned about taking a step backwards, that's ALL I've ever taken when sharpening myself, until I got the Klein.

Have you tried a clamp system? I can make a Lansky work quite well, just make sure the guide rods are straight and the clamp is tightened down the same way each time you put the blade in. Freehand is a great skill, but it can be frustrating at the beginning.

I think it's pretty clear that this thread is over. The guy doesn't want any help, he just wanted to complain, and now he wants to argue and insult people. It's time to move on.
Wasn't it clear that I just wanted to vent from the beginning? Hell, didn't I even say that in the first post?

However Ratfinkinstien decided that I needed to have his wondrous knowledge forced down my throat, and calls me a troll when I tell him that I don't.

Sorry, i guess this thread is the only thread on the forum made to vent frustrations with current knives/designs/materials. And I guess I should just allow people like rat finkienstien to be rude and act like an as$ without even standing up to the abuse.

Yeah, I'll do that!

So what is your point? If you have no intention to learn anything, and you dont want informed opinions from knowledgeable individuals- you just want to complain and whine?

why are you here?
You see, as the post above clearly shows, rat fink thinks the only reason people are here is to listen to him. Maybe if he learned to read a little better and pushed his ego out of the way he would have understood this part:

I figured I'd just vent my frustrations, I'm still kinda mad that I paid $100+ for this Benchmade and scratched it up. It would have been excellent as a "formal wear" type of knife, if my car keys didn't do so much damage.

Yet you continue to come back to start more trouble...

No, I dont come here to start trouble (but I think you did).

In fact I have not called names, or attempted to start arguements.
You came here asking a question (maybe) and complaining about a knife. People including myself have given you helpful advice, but Instead of trying to learn, you throw insults and insist that your way is right, even though the people who actually know about knives and sharpening say otherwise.

Now you are lying, you called me ignorant. Just because I do not agree with your opinion, it does not make me ignorant. And yes, you did start calling names.

Second, I never asked a question. I also did not ask for your advice, and when you gave it, I politely told you why I did not agree with it. That is when you got mad and started the trouble.

Even now, after I told my experiences and how well they worked, you are still talking about how you are right and I am wrong. I guess I took a little too much voltage over the years and can't tell that my knife has been sharp :jerkit:

If you dont like the Benchmade, put it away and use the clunker CRKI. I have many Benchmade black knives. All of them are still black. The reason is that I carry my keys on a clip attached to my belt so that I dont have to drag them over my black knives! Such a simple thing to do! If your not gonna consider keeping your keys away from your knifes, stop WHINING when they get scratched!!

I carry a Surefire U2 flashlight clopped to my left pocket that costed $270.00. I do not want it scratched, especially the lens! I dont put anything in either pocket that will scratch the finish on a black knife or light.

I only use my keys 2 or 3 times a day. I would think that if you used them 8 times a day, you would want them more easily available than in your pocket?

I despise whiners!

This isn't the forum for venting and ranting and whining. there is one- its called Whine & Cheese.
You are not the moderator, you do not make that decision.

 Looks like this thread started off as a reasonable discussion. What happened?

Sure-Fire, many of the members here know more about knives and sharpeners than you do. When they tell you coatings get scratched and the sharpener you've been using isn't very good, that's not because they love to argue, it's because coatings get scratched and the sharpener you've been using isn't very good.

I would like to think all that's needed here is a chance to cool off and I'm not going to have to kick anybody overboard. I'm closing the thread. Let's see....
